Thorough coverage of all aspects of anti aging from a scientific perspective. While I wouldn’t use the pharmaceuticals, the lifestyle information and glimpse into the future of this field were very helpful.

Historia
Milton H. Erickson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Part of his therapy was his use of teaching tales, which through shock, surprise, or confusion - with genius use of questions, puns, and playful humor - helped people to see their situations in a new way. In this audiobook Sidney Rosen has collected over 100 of the tales. Presented verbatim and accompanied by Dr. Rosen's commentary, they are grouped under such headings as Motivating Tales, Reframing, and Capturing the Innocent Eye.

Horrible don’t waste your time
Revisado: 09-03-24
Old fashioned ideas and even manners of speaking. Unethical behavior on the part of the therapist towards women is rampant. Rape is even induced and glossed over like it’s not a crime, while the therapist seems to feel successful for having helped the rapist with his impotence. Sad and stupid. Nothing here is helpful to actually helping anyone.

Disappointed and very bored
Revisado: 03-01-24
The book is an exhausting, long-form metaphorical conversation between different qualities within the author like dark humor and model builder. It might have worked better if he’d taken some time to introduce the characters better so that we understood what it means to be a model builder, for instance. But the joke ran far too long and became so tiresome that I kept fast forgetting parts to see if he would drop this device and get on with a more straightforward narrative or share some useful scientific knowledge. For a man who loves scientific measurements and hacking the body so much, I had hoped he would share more on that. I’m not sure what the point of this book was. I really enjoy his podcast interviews so I’m just disappointed. Oh well.

Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) is known to millions today as the grandfather of the new age. A medical clairvoyant, psychic, and Christian mystic, Cayce provided medical, psychological, and spiritual advice to thousands of people who swore by the effectiveness of his trance-based readings.

Don’t buy it
Revisado: 02-11-24
I say “don’t buy it” as my advice to others and as an expression that means this story is a bunch of nonsense. This book paints a picture of Edgar Cayce that is so inaccurate. He’s supposedly a simple, uneducated Christian man who accidentally channels some mysterious spiritual being to diagnose and heal people. Truth is he was a well-read student of the occult, home remedies, and his accuracy is unproven in any scientific manner. In fact, the truth is that he diagnosed and prescribed treatment for a few people who had written him letters who were then deceased. If a spiritual being was involved, wouldn’t they have known the patient was dead? He also apparently prescribed cruel acts like skinning a live rabbit and then putting the bloody skin on a woman’s breast cancer. I read this book to learn more about this mysterious “sleeping prophet’ but didn’t get to the truth until digging deeper online. This book is a sales pitch and it is what made him famous. But it’s not accurate. Don’t waste your time.

Lacking in Science, Disappointing
Revisado: 01-21-24
I was hoping this book would be the hydration version of James Nestor’s “Breathe” book. It’s not. There’s a doctor involved with this book, but she didn’t seem to write much of it. The other author does much of the reading of the audiobook and gives us lots of her opinions with little to no science to back up any of the outlandish things she says. Don’t waste your money or your time on this book. It is obviously not well researched or credible scientifically.

Important information everyone needs to know
Revisado: 12-10-23
Well researched and explained information about our circadian rhythm (aka circadian code) that isn’t commonly known. For instance, I learned why it’s important to eat on a schedule and what that optimal schedule should be like to improve sleep. Routines help a great deal and there are optimal times each day for everything from work to exercise as well as eating. Definitely worth the time to listen to or read this book. I would definitely recommend it.
