Historia
Rain slicked streets, riots, murder, chaos. It’s July 1992 and the Troubles in Northern Ireland are still grinding on after twenty-five apocalyptic years. Detective Inspector Sean Duffy got his family safely over the water to Scotland, to “Shortbread Land”. Duffy’s a part-timer now, only returning to Belfast six days a month to get his pension. It’s an easy gig, if he can keep his head down.

Potentially Best Duffy Book Yet…
Revisado: 03-06-25
Simply Outstanding. McKinty and Doyle REALLY went all out for this one. Taking nothing set from the prior seven and the other novels in between, this was phenomenal.

Historia
Southern Afghanistan was slipping away. That was clear to then-Captain Rusty Bradley as he began his third tour of duty there in 2006. The Taliban and their allies were infiltrating everywhere, poised to reclaim Kandahar Province, their strategically vital onetime capital. To stop them, the NATO coalition launched Operation Medusa, the largest offensive in its history. The battlefield was the Panjwayi Valley, a densely packed warren of walled compounds that doubled neatly as enemy bunkers.

Major Bradley, SF and conventional forces deserve a solid, honest book shut just one of their many exploits in the War on Terror. Highly recommend this audiobook. There ships be many more just like it, written by men like Rusty Bradley.

Yet another Badass book in the series
Revisado: 03-27-24
McKinty has done it AGAIN. I honestly don’t know how he churns out excellent book after excellent book but he does. People, places, things, smells, weather, sentient feelings…. It all comes through in his books. If live to see Detective Sgt Sean Duffy of Special Branch/CID join up with Fr. Brennan Burke and Montique Collins (collaboration with Anne Emery) because that would blow everyone’s sucks off. If you can read these in order, if not, they’re great as is. Much love and respect. ☘️

Beginning of a wild ride that brought me incredible entertainment for many months. Even though I skipped the sequence of books, each one was fantastic by itself.

Having read all but one more in this series, I have been immensely impressed with character development, depth of the story itself, comingling of various themes, fantastic prose, exceptional narration and genuinely great books. I have never been one for a saga or series, yet the journey through this one has completely changed my mind. Much love ands respect. Thank you for the great books, keep ‘em rolling my dear friend.

Historia
Father Brennan Burke is struggling, and he’s been coping the only way he knows how: self-medicating with drink. He’s barely managing, but his troubles intensify when the body of one of his parishioners washes up on the coast of Halifax. Meika Keller came to Canada after escaping past a checkpoint in the Berlin Wall. An army colonel is charged with her murder, and defense lawyer Monty argues that Meika’s death was a suicide, which is the last thing Father Burke wants to hear.
