Lousy Narration
Revisado: 05-04-25
I have waited until Vol. 7, to rate this series because I was hoping there would be a change in narrator. This is a great story, but the guy doing the narration has no skill at all other than reading the story. In scenes where a woman or a young female child is speaking; he uses a voice that is deeper and huskier that a full-grown man at least 40 or more years old. It really detracts from the listening experience.

Historia
Dying might just be the best thing that ever happened to Dare. Not the dying itself, of course, although thankfully he doesn't remember it. He finds himself in a gray void, where a mysterious voice offers him a choice: Continue on to whatever awaits him in the afterlife, or be reborn on a world with video game-like mechanics. Which as far as he's concerned isn't a tough choice at all. Just that quickly Dare begins a new life full of possibilities, eagerly venturing out to explore a breathtaking world, level up and become powerful, and romance and fall in love with beautiful women of an ...

Bad Virtual Voice
Revisado: 06-24-24
Using AI (Virtual Voice) as a narrator ruined the telling of this story. Firstly, where the author has a character stuttering, the AI is saying the individual letters in the stutter until it gets to an actual word. Second, when the author is indicating a pause by using an ellipse, the AI is skipping over the ellipse without pausing. Lastly, the AI's reading of the story is without the emotional input that a human narrator would include (good or bad).
Also, the plot for this story isn't all that interesting.

Worst dialog ever
Revisado: 01-14-23
The character dialog in this book is cliché and atrocious. I wish I had never bought this book. The narration of the female voices is so irritating that I had to stop listening to it less than halfway through. On a scale of 1 to 100, I can't see how anyone can rate it over one.

Bad sound effects
Revisado: 12-22-21
The narrator does a lousy job with the sound effects he tried to make. Also, he miss said many word in the book. As an example the narrator said FIRE when the author had written FIBER. This is just one example of the many occurrences.

Historia
In the apocalypse, the first weapon Adrian will have to upgrade is himself. The end of the world as we know it couldn’t come at a worse time for him. One minute, he’s an operations manager who’s overseeing a construction job in the wilderness. The next, an unknown energy force changes the very nature of life itself, from the smallest organism to the top of the food chain. The Earth’s surviving inhabitants, its environment, and the very laws of physics have all undergone fundamental transformations. Many of those changes aren’t pretty.

Historia
Where do we come from? How did our ancestors settle this planet? How did the great historic civilizations of the world develop? How does a past so shadowy that it has to be painstakingly reconstructed from fragmentary, largely unwritten records nonetheless make us who and what we are?
These 36 lectures bring you the answers that the latest scientific and archaeological research and theorizing suggest about human origins, how populations developed, and the ways in which civilizations spread throughout the globe.

Lecturer Should stop teaching
Revisado: 01-13-17
Would you try another book from The Great Courses and Brian M. Fagan and/or Professor Brian M. Fagan?
No
Has Human Prehistory and the First Civilizations turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The tone of the narrator throughout the lectures sounded to me as though he would rather be doing anything other than giving the lectures. Also, some of the comments he made during the series gave me the impression that he thought his audience was too stupid to understand what he was saying.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
