The Perfect Singer...

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-10-19

It's her Mother's maiden name, and there's nothing Ethan won't do for Singer Davis.

As she starts to fall for the handsome and debonair Ethan.
Oh, and he's also a billionaire... who has several enemies... a former partner and a former girlfriend who want everything from him.

The green eyed monster is very evident in the story.

I won't tell you too much about "Everest" except to say this story is delightful!

The cast of characters are all very entertaining.

I laughed and I cried at the end of the story... with Scott's twists and turns.. and a shocking finale.

I think I've found another favorite story teller in S. L. Scott.

The three boys moved into this small town outside of Charlotte, Jace, Liam and Joseph. But it's Jace's eyes that steal Faith's breath. Cooper and gold with brown flecks, that hold such strength and angst.
Accused the first day of stealing a sandwich at the new high school, where he's being dragged to the principal's office., Jace denies the deed. Given a second chance, Jace flees the office with Faith on his heals.
There Faith sees Jace give the sandwich to Joseph, who scarfs the thing down.
When Jace catches Faith, she's accused of spying and is told to keep away.
Everyone in town's gossiping about the new teen boys and saying they're bad and to keep away from them.
Jace's mother is heavily into street drugs, and she has moved the boys into an abandoned trailer at the end of town.
She's also indiscriminate of whom she sleeps with.
This includes a man named Steven, who happens to be a huge drug dealer.

Walking down the old dirt road heading home, Faith loves this old plantation style home that's been abandoned.. it's Faith's dream to own and live there.
Jace comes up behind Faith, shocking her, asking what she's doing there, then he lifts her up on his back and runs down the moss covered oak tree drive... where he kisses Faith.
They have their daily rendezvous... and where they start to fall in love.

Jace comes home from working at the grocery store, to find Steven giving Liam and Joseph instructions on how to start delivering his drugs to the town. Blowing up, Jace orders Steven out and to never come back. When he comes back the next day, he finds Liam beaten up, by Steven, for not agreeing to listen to him and distribute his drugs. Jace finds out where Steven lives and beats him up, threatening to kill him if he doesn't leave his family alone. Jace is arrested for assault.

As Joseph develops his own love for Faith, he starts to grow a severe animosity towards Jace.
Joseph wasn't lucky enough to escape Steven's clutches.

During one of Jace and Faith's meetings, Jace is arrested.
The next day Jace breaks up with Faith. Sobbing uncontrollably, Faith begs Jace not to leave her.
Walking away is the hardest thing Jace ever had to do.
What happens next, will keep you listening, not wanting to set your tablet down.
All I can say is it involves Faith, Joseph, Jace and a chocolate eyed little girl with curly brown hair... just like her mom's
And who's trying to kill them.

Perfect Title

Another great Vi Keeland story. I loved the spark you put into Reese, and the smoldering looks from Chase.

Having many bad memories, Reese has multiple locks on her apartment door.

When Reese was a child, her home was broken into and left her brother deaf from the burglars who had been caught by her and her brother Owen. Because of an early release from school, and being latch key kids, Owen protected Reese by pushing her out the door.

From that point on she had a continual need to look in all the places where anyone could have been hiding.

Chase met Reese the first time when she was trying to have her girlfriend call so she could leave the horrible date she was on.
He made up this story about how they met, and she was hooked.

Reese's former boss had been a part time lover after she slept with him. Finding out about his fiancee a week later, Reese resigns. With no prospects for employment, Chase puts his number in her phone, then has his friend Samantha - a headhunter - help Reese find a position in one of Chase's companies.

The sexual tension between them was palpable. After finally agreeing to go on bi-weekly dinner dates, Reese and Chase agree on what can and cannot happen.

It's not until Reese has to leave NYC for a training session in Kansas City that Reese's reserve breaks.
Chase was on the same plane and going with her.
With their hotel rooms adjacent to each other, Chase taps her connecting door for frivolous things, until he starts talking to her in the only way Chase can, and Reese is broken. Jumping into his arms, the finally find their release in each other.
It's not until a bad memory comes to life again that causes Chase to break things up with them.

Heart broken, Reese nags at Chase to tell her what's wrong. When he refuses, Reese finds out in the allies of his family.. his sister.
After finally finding out the truth, Reese decides that the only way to get Chase back is to get him jealous.

There are many shockers here, all well placed.

I cannot wait to hear more from Chase and Reese!!

Vi Keeland has written another wonderful story.
Grayson is a man who has not always had the best luck where romance and business are concerned.
Lila is the product of a romance - just her parents weren't married to each other... his wife wouldn't have approved.
Being a lawyer from a very prestigious NYC law firm allowed her to help many people... including the wife of a client, when she informed the authorities of his abusive relationship with his wife.
The only problem was she violated lawyer/client confidentially when she turned him in. As part of her community service, she has to teach inmates at the federal minimum security prison SEC regulations, pertaining to running their own businesses.
Gray becomes enamored with Lila while he is serving a three year sentence for insider trading... that he didn't commit.
It's not until later that he finds out all the wrongs dealt to him... from his ex partner.. who just happened to be his wife.
Andi Arnet narrates wonderfully - as usual, and Sebastian York just as wonderful... together they tell this wonderful tale of a backstabbing, conniving and twisted woman who, along with another "friend" cause Gray to loose his business, his freedom and the women he isn't willing to be without...
Oh, and the surprise his ex-wife, Mackenzie hadn't planned on sharing until it was almost too late.
A poignant story.
Expect to shed a tear or two...

The Heat Goes On

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 08-15-18

Grady and Dylan.
She's a songwriter for the country's top singer and hot man, who also happens to be her boyfriend. And she find him in bed with another woman, who berates her, and leaves Dylan feeling less than perfect .
Grady is one of Sunnyville's fireman . He also happens to be the survivor of the pair of the "Two in - Two out" rule that Grady has with his fellow firefighter . Add a severe fire Grady's partner doesn't come out alive, and Grady suffers severe third-degree burns on his back and neck .
Dylan needs a place to go to get away from her former boyfriend and her brother , sends her to his best friends place , Grady's. Unbeknownst to the two of them , their life is going to be turned upside down and sideways .
Dylan has to finish writing songs for her ex-boyfriend's album . And Grady listens to her saying that he doesn't get to hear the whole words of the song . It's not until her her ex-boyfriend shows up at the house, still professing his "love". And she rebukes him continually.
Grady having been given heads up, walks in to the door and says, "Honey, I'm home!"
Then he walked into the kitchen , and gives his "girlfriend" because of her life . This starts the sham of them being boyfriend and girlfriend . Little does Dylan know nor Grady for that matter , that when they spend the night in bed together that flames will soon be flying high .
Grady has the terrible fear of going back into the fire because of what happened to his friend. And Dylan is the one who shows him that he can go back in and fight a fire and be the person that he loves to be. A firefighter.
The fire hall is making their first ever calendar, in memory of the firefighter who they lost, and for his family . Dylan promises that she will be there with him while he poses for the calendar. What shocks them more than anything is a picture that shows up for the month of August . It's a black-and-white picture , Of Grady looking over shoulder at Dylan , with the most perfect smile , and love in his eyes that is hard to miss. His unspoken love for Dylan .
It's not until there's a severe fire further up in California that really worries Dylan . But his fire hall hasn't been called up yet .
Now, as the days get closer for Dylan to leave, now that she's fine wished the album, she only wants to hear Grady to ask her to stay.
And Grady knows he loves Dylan , just doesn't know how to tell her .
Well-written and wonderfully read .

Not for the weak of heart

Revisado: 08-11-18

Grant and Emmy have a history that expands twenty years.
Except, years ago Grant broke a pinky promise with Emmy.
Emerson's father was molesting his daughter and much worse.
Do not read this book if you can't handle this.
Years later, Grant is "Officer Sexy", dubbed by the local women. With good reason.
He's ridiculously handsome. And kind.
During one of his calls, he comes upon a little girl who is going through similar problems. Only her father likes to hit her and his wife.
Emmy runs a sky diving school.
While trying to get a loan, the bank officer, who is lower than low.
He'll guarantee a loan... if Emmy has sex with him.
When she refuses, he informs her that the school has been sold.
All in all, through all the darkness, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I cried for Emmy as an eight year old. And I cried for the little girl who's father beat her.
And I laughed as Grant's brothers, Grady and Grayson, invade his house regularly.
Brothers will be brothers and all that.... they, along with his parents are a force to be reckoned with.
Enjoy Cuffed.
The ending will make you really smile!
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell put in wonderful readings, as usual.
