Historia
It all started with a simple, yet sneakily difficult challenge from global best-selling author Harlan Coben: Pick a bird of prey, then use it as the inspiration for a brand-new story. The response from some of the best writers on the planet: Game on! The result: Eleven stories that are twisty, scary, surprising and bursting with imagination. An egg worth more than its weight in gold. A mysterious operative known only as Owl. An eagle-watcher who sees more than she should. Even a story that somehow places the Maltese Falcon in a nursing home.

Historia
As a liberal young man in East Texas, Hap Collins is discovering his passion for two-fisted justice in a redneck world. Leonard Pine - black, gay, and the ultimate outsider - is already fighting his own battles against racists and bullies. So when Hap sees Leonard demolishing an angry mob with his fists (and taunts), it’s immediately clear that these two young men have a lot in common.

UGH.... ANOTHER WASTED CREDIT
Revisado: 05-25-21
I love JOE R LANSDALE's work but yet again, great writing is being completely ruined by the extremely poor narration by JD JACKSON. Mr Jackson's monotone voice, with very little difference in inflection, make following the story line very difficult to follow at times. If you have listened to the other books in this series and are used to the flawless narration of PHIL GIGANTE, I suspect that you, like me, will be very disappointed in this one. You might consider the print version. NOTE: The same can be said for "DEVIL RED"

Historia
If there’s one thing Hap Collins and Leonard Pine like, it’s trouble - and they especially like getting paid to find it. So when their friend and sometime boss Marvin Harmon asks the boys to look into a cold-case double homicide, they’re happy to oblige. It turns out that both victims were set to inherit some serious money, and one of them ran with an honest-to-goodness vampire cult. The more closely Hap and Leonard look over the crime-scene photos, the more trouble they see.

DO NO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY
Revisado: 10-27-20
Up to this point, I have loved all of Joe R Lansdale's books and I am sure that I will love this one as soon as I get a printed version and read if for myself. In all his previous books in the HAP & LEONARD series have been read by PHIL GIGANTE who always does a fantastic job. I have over 300 Audible books in my library and I believe that this narrator, JD Jackson, is by far the worst of any I have heard.... to the point that I don't think I can force myself to sit through the entire book.

With authoritative reporting honed through eight presidencies from Nixon to Obama, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies. WOW
Revisado: 09-28-18
Very insightful reporting from Bob Woodward into the happenings in DC over the past couple years. If it were written by anyone else, I might assume that it was a smear campaign against Trump but Trump, and his own actions, are his worst enemy. In short this book would be funny if it weren't so damned scary - certainly a case of truth being stranger than fiction. There is a saying here in the South that comers to mind, "You can't make this kind of sh#t up!"

Historia
In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

This is a beautiful, touching insight to a beautiful family dealing with the loss of a son/brother/father/friend behind the public Washington DC view. I have a whole new respect for Mr Biden (and his former boss!)

Daniel Mulligan is tough, snarky, and tattooed, hiding his self-consciousness behind sarcasm. Daniel has never fit in - not at home in Philadelphia with his auto mechanic father and brothers, and not at school where his Ivy League classmates looked down on him. Now, Daniel's relieved to have a job at a small college in Holiday, Northern Michigan, but he's a city boy through and through, and it's clear that this small town is one more place he won't fit in.

I TRIED... I HONESTLY TRIED...
Revisado: 06-27-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I TRIED... I HONESTLY TRIED... to get through this book, but I just couldn't. Perhaps the printed version of the book would have been better.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The initial idea of the book is interesting but that interest quickly fizzled out.
How could the performance have been better?
This narrator should never, EVER attempt male voices. All male voices seemed to have the same speech impediment and were basically the same poor attempt. I think this is only the second time I have ever had to just quit a book because of the narrator
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None at all

What disappointed you about Taken in Death?
I cannot believe that this is from the "pen" of Nora Roberts. Poor storyline and even worse narration.
Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Ericksen’s performances?
NO.... NEVER!!! Listening to her narration made an already bad book almost painful to listen to

Historia
Suspenseful, comic, and profoundly moving, the latest novel in Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series follows one of literature's most beloved and indelible characters as she embarks on a road trip that will take her deep into her complicated past. Now 92, and committed to the notion of "leaving like a lady", Mrs. Madrigal has seemingly found peace with her "logical family" in San Francisco: her devoted caretaker, Jake Greenleaf; her former tenant Brian Hawkins and his daughter, Shawna; and Michael Tolliver and Mary Ann Singleton, who have known Anna for nearly four decades.

Farewell Ms Madrigal
Revisado: 02-22-14
Where does The Days of Anna Madrigal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
All good things must come to an end and Armistead Maupin has done a beautiful job with this "Tales" bittersweet finale.
Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Mulgrew’s performances?
The one downside to this book was the narrator. I will be ordering the print version of this book just to read it without having to listen to her voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The last chapter (and specifically the last 5 minutes) made me a little misty-eyed.
Any additional comments?
I am anxiously awaiting the next book from Maupin.
