Yes it truly was a huge disappointment. As a highly enthusiastic fan of the Stieg Larsson novels I awaited this one with great eagerness. What I got was a rambling disorganized plot and with ancillary characters being added every chapter and not even close to enough of Elisabeth Sallander. Perhaps others might be able to appreciate this novel but for me this one is a total no go.

David Lagercrantz took some time to meet his characters and adopt them. many nice surprises and twists. of course, Simon Vance came back to serenade us with his talent. I look forward to a continuation of the series.

I did not want to like it

Yes, it is not quite the same--and I for one don't think that Lagercrantz would have been able to make Lisbeth come to life from scratch. Still, he does a great job taking the characters that were given to him and crafting a fast paced, fun read. The story has enough layers to be reminiscent of the first three Millennium novels. Lisbeth and Mikael rings true. August is a nice new character (although parts of his tale were not as believable as Larsson would have made them. And Simon Vance does a phenomenal job, as he usually does. Recommend.

What made the experience of listening to The Girl in the Spider's Web the most enjoyable?

I was worried that I would not like this new Lisbeth Salander as well as the first 3. I was pleasantly surprised because I like this one best of all! It's a bit less dark and less absurd. I hope there are more to come!

What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?

Simon Vance is a master narrator.

Starts off a bit slower but gets there. Hardly notice the change of authors. Well performed too.

I 'm happy to report that David Lagercranz mastered Stieg Larsson's voice in writing this fourth novel in the series. Simon Vance read it beautifully.

Really enjoyed the story line, and the performance. My only disappointment was that Lisbeth did not have a bigger role in the storh.

Buyer beware. For some reason even though its the same narrator several main characters names are mispronounced. It is so bad that I had to relisten to several passages to understand who they were talking about. Once the story gets going and you relearn the names it does get better but why? I searched the web and could find no articles relating to this. As far as the story goes it was OK. My advice is stick to the classic 3.
