Historia
The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history - how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Well Written Open Honest Memoir
Revisado: 07-13-24
I was a big fan of Griffin back in the day after he starred in "After Hours", which was one of my favorite movies at the time. I also used to read Dominic Dunne's crime articles in Vanity Fair because he was a great writer and then I watched his series "Power, Privilege and Justice". And of course I remember the tragic and sad death of his sister Dominique. I found this book to be a great listen especially because Griffin Dunne does such a great job narrating. The story is told with a love and respect for his whole family. There are equal parts of tragedy as well as good humor, some dark humor and entertainment within his story. A pretty remarkable story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Enjoyable Fast Paced Narrative but Content Becomes Repetitive and Angry
Revisado: 03-11-24
Although I enjoyed a rare look behind the scenes of the restaurant industry and learned a few interesting things about food prep, and specialty dishes, the vulgarity and name calling gets a bit old after awhile. Expected a bit more of his interesting stories and experiences. The second half of the book became drawn out and uninteresting.

Scientifically Presented Facts-Fascinating!
Revisado: 04-17-19
Author not only has a strong, clear voice, he shares a deeper explanation than most who write books such as these. Rightly so, he has credentials and a highly recognized reputation to back it up. I’m now a new fan. From biological genes, recent studies on foods, supplements and exercise this book is wonderfully jam packed with excellent information. Enjoyed it immensely.

Epic Family Struggle for Power of L'Oreal Fortune
Revisado: 01-28-19
An epic saga of the family struggle within France's richest company, L'Oreal. The cast of characters in the book is almost too extensive to keep track of in the beginning. Add to the fact, that the main antagonists in the story have the same names. If you hang in there and are able to remember who's who, you'll enjoy a fascinating drama of a wealthy mostly cold family with ties to politicians, famous artists, designers and ties back to the company founder who it turns out, was a Hitler sympathizer.
There is enough money to go around 100 times in this family but for some reason there just wasn't enough for some people. Very sad.
The hardest thing to get used to was the narrator. At times it sounded stilted and robotic. French names sound beautiful but hard to keep track of with the narration style.

Poetic Literary Journey From A Brilliant Mind
Revisado: 01-24-19
A beautiful story seeking to answer deep meaningful questions about life while facing down death. It's a shame the world lost a brilliant physician before he really had the chance to live his life fully. But as talented as a neurosurgeon as Paul was, he seemed as equally gifted as a writer. The question is "What makes a life worth living"? The answer is personal to everyone and this book does a good job of sparking the same question from within ourselves.

Captivating Storytelling That Doesn't Disappoint!
Revisado: 05-10-18
As a true crime fan, I enjoy the Homicide Hunter series on TV but loved this book even more. Joe Kenda is a natural at storytelling and his no-nonsense, straight forward style, made for a very entertaining, eye-opening listening experience. I appreciated the injection of the "Joe Kenda style" dry humor, which helped give levity in between a few more grisly cases in the book. Most cases he covers are just fascinating when it comes to human behavior, rather than all about the violence of the crimes. Of course there is a good share of some very sad and violent cases as would be expected.
The book includes a few chapters where he shares personal narratives from his wife and children which helped give his family's perspective as well.
Overall, a captivating, great book!

As children we all had our imaginary friends and monsters in the closet. But for Suzan Saxman, those friends and monsters didn't go away--and they weren't imaginary. From an early age, Suzan knew instinctively that she had to hide her true self. She couldn't talk about the specters that haunted her, waking and dreaming. In bed with a childhood fever, rat-faced winged beings guarded her.

Unique and Revealing Memoir
Revisado: 10-23-17
A good read that shares the author’s personal challenges in her early childhood and how she coped with her special gift both as a child and as an adult. Her gift as a psychic seemed to evolve as she matured and was able to accept herself for who she was despite the hugely dysfunctional family that she belonged to. Although I found it hard to accept every aspect of her story when it pertained to fairies and other-worldly beings that would visit her from time to time, her story had enough substance and interesting concepts regarding the other side to hold my attention. I looked forward to each chapter. Well written, and thought the narrator was excellent.
