Historia
Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

Entertaining
Revisado: 04-06-22
Kinda a spoiler, no plot or major details of the story, but an overall spoiler...
So, everything works out for this guy. Yes he may be put into situations where things look grim, but everything works out well, like very well. However, for me at least, it doesn't take away from the entertainment value. Part way through the book I realized what was going on as far as that, but the creativity of the story is what kept me listening along with Travis's great narration.
It is refreshing, it's a different take on the litRPG world because there are games out there where you can exploit the heck out of it and do what this MC is doing.
I'll listen to this for a second time, I enjoyed it that much. Awaiting the series.

Solid 3.5 stars, so rounded up
Revisado: 03-16-22
Not a bad story, not a great story. I was entertained but left feeling like there could have been more. I saw a lot of stuff coming, a whole lot, that said, even though I saw it coming I still enjoyed listening to it. Books I love I would find reasons to listen, this one was solely for the driving for me. I wouldn't revisit the book, just a once through was enough.
This was in the Thriller genre as I browsed Audible and I would say it was miss labeled.
Ray Porter is always a good choice for a Narrator, which is why I gave the book a chance. Had it been someone else, I might not have had such a good feeling.

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

Not a cliff hanger ending, but ready for more.
Revisado: 02-03-22
For a second, I thought it was going to be a massive cliff hanger which made me want to throw my phone on the freeway (not really, just imagining the satisfaction venting frustration). Thankfully Craig didn't do that to us.
If you like the other books, you'll like this. RC does a stellar job as always.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

really, it's a good book, good story, but RC brings it to the next level. The way he narrates Skippy, and the banter, just couldn't have cast a better narrator.

Extremely narrow Eurocentric scope for a title and description that boasts robust knowledge of the world in regards to pagan beliefs. Might as well be retitled to "The Ancient Greeks with Honorable Mentions".

The Zone he has landed on has been in a state of constant war for thousands of years, a tug of war between the Elven and Dwarven societies. I love this series and the whole universe he created. Though Luke's voices are very similar or the same from book to book, this one he's stepped it up a bit and I am quite grateful for it. There have been times where I have had to stop the book, rewind 15 seconds, listen, stop, rewind, rinse and repeat.
If you like the rest of The Completionist Chronicles, you'll definitely like this.

Wil is a great narrator, just not for this book if you've heard RC Bray read it. too many characters to keep track of if you're not paying attention to who is saying what, Wil's voices don't have enough difference to help define the difference. glad I listened to his version, but will stick with RC for every repeat listen.

Wasn't sure at first, but dang was it good
Revisado: 10-22-20
Never listened to a book that Christian J. Gilliland narrated before, and at first listen I thought it was going to be a bore, then I realized that his narration voice was just kinda ok because his character voices were great. For a second I thought Luke Daniels was narrating the characters because of the tone manner of speaking some of the characters had, but then the voices broadened more. Now, I'll go search for EVERYTHING Christian has narrated.
So far, anything by Dakota Krout is good, and this one is just as awesome. Still in the same universe so that was a relief for my brain. I love CAL and all his antics, so having Something new to listen to is even better. Can't wait for more in this series.

We were prepared for an earthquake. We had a flood plan in place. We could even have dealt with zombies. Probably. But no one expected the end to be quite so…sticky…or strawberry scented. Yahtzee Croshaw ( Mogworld, Zero Punctuation Reviews) returns to audiobooks with a follow-up to his smash-hit debut: Jam, a dark comedy about the one apocalypse no one predicted.

if you like Yahtzee's work, this is a good one.
Revisado: 08-14-19
I enjoyed the book, great reading by Yahtzee as he always does.
I'd get lost in the story sometimes because it was quite entertaining, jampocalyptic survivors trying to deal with humanity and its stupidity when met with challenges.
only 4 stars (should be 4.42, so rounded to the nearest) because at times it seemed like the story didn't transition well. might have been because of a narration gap being needed and not inserted, and maybe it was in the printed book. I had to rewind several times because it felt like I missed something, then realized I hadn't. had enough sudden changes to keep it interesting but not totally unbelievable that it couldn't happen.
I'll probably give this another listen in a year or so, it's worth another listen when wanting a good laugh and a break from your typical story retold with new characters.

Space dust in my eye, totally not misty eyed...
Revisado: 06-07-18
No spoilers
Ray Porter, you must have used some voodoo magic to get that space dust through my phone into my eye, totally had nothing to do with the emotional inflections you put into your voice at key moments when it comes to family.
Freaking Dennis for not making this a series, according to his webpage. Oh so much can be done from here, but I understand why you didn't, at least I believe I understand.
Great listen, Ray Porter does a stellar job as always (pun intended) of bringing a great book up to a 42.
Similar writing style of the Bobiverse, he gives you a scene and right at the good point, tells the scene again from another angle. I love and hate that, but I feel it gives more to the story.
