Very Disappointing!!
Revisado: 09-15-15
What disappointed you about The Girl in the Spider's Web?
There were no levels to the story. It was a straight line that dragged on and on. There was no growth in Lisbeths character and she seemed almost superficial to the story line.
Would you ever listen to anything by David Lagercrantz again?
Never
Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Simon Vance is an excellent narrator.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Girl in the Spider's Web?
I wouldn't have published this book

Historia
Meet Jake. A bit on the elderly side (he turns 201 in March), but you’d never suspect it. Nonstop sex and exercise will do that for you - and a diet with lots of animal protein. Jake is a werewolf, and after the unfortunate and violent death of his one contemporary, he is now the last of his species. Although he is physically healthy, Jake is deeply distraught and lonely.

Boring and offensive
Revisado: 08-16-11
I read the glowing reviews and really anicipated a great listen. But I just don't get it. I found the storyline very slow-moving and the narrator very monotone. No one mentioned the extremely graphic, and to my mind, offensive sexual descriptions. I guess some people enjoy this kind of thing. For me, I couldn't get through the first half. Should have listened to the sample. One star because I had to.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-18-09
I really enjoy Barbara Kingsolver's writing - especially The Poisonwood Bible, but I just couldn't get into this book. I found it very slow moving. Maybe it was the narration - great author though.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Historia
When Germany invaded Poland, bombers devastated Warsaw - and the city's zoo along with it. With most of their animals dead, zookeepers Jan and Antonina Zabinski began smuggling Jews into the empty cages. Another dozen "guests" hid inside the Zabinskis' villa, emerging after dark for dinner, socializing, and, during rare moments of calm, piano concerts.

Beautifully written but slow moving
Revisado: 07-12-08
This book will probably win literary awards since the writing is excelent and the language is beautiful. That being said, the story itself is very slow moving and I was never able to really feel a connection with the characters. Given the subject matter, I expected some degree of suspense, but it never developed. Some chapters were totally descriptive and interrupted the story line completely. While the reader does a really good job, the presentation is so lyrical it becomes monotonous. Perhaps an abridged version would be a better choice.

First and last of Sophie Katz
Revisado: 06-20-08
This is the first Sophie Katz book I've listened to and I wouldn't get another one. I kept waiting for it to get better, but it never happened. The character development was very poor, although maybe that was because this isn't the first in the series. The plot was slow moving and unbelievable. The heroine was really quite stupid for someone trying to investigate a murder. Maybe part of it was the narrator - even the characters sounded bored.

Maybe not Maeve Binchey, but a nice, pleasant little story to pass the time. I also listened to the Teahouse book, which was ok, but this one was better.

This is the worst audiobook I've ever listened to. There is no plot, it isn't funny, and the reader is dull. Don't waste your money.
