Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Slow, Repetitive, depression and suicide no plot
Revisado: 12-21-21
Horrible, everyone is depressed, slow, slow, and did I say SLOW! Someone was seriously depressed and fixated on drowning themselves in water when they wrote this. The story just circles back to, goes around the topic, then circles back to the same idea of depression and drowning. I lasted till chapter 10, then I just had to let it circle down the drain. Back this one goes....

Entertaining with decent plot, better than most
Revisado: 03-01-20
I am rating this on entertainment value. I have purchased all of the series, and I would buy the next. It does get slow or off at points but it always brings me back. Plot wise and reader.. good enough to entertain, so its a good value.

Historia
Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Victim makes stupid mistakes over an over gets old
Revisado: 10-31-19
Victim makes stupid mistakes over an over gets old very quick. "oh why did i just do that..now my whole family is in peral.." about 20 times. "Molly" must have an IQ of 50.... so many dumb moves by the heroine to continue the story I got mad at the author. I do not recommend. EVER

Trash. All Ebonics, and big black but references.
Revisado: 12-02-17
the story is written in an uneducated Southern black slang. Constant talk about black girls with big buts. There was so much trash talk... could never get around to find out if there was a story before I deleted. I am disappointed in Audible for having this trash. Book feels as if it were written by a 13 year old.

Good story/performance, Gutter slang ruined it.
Revisado: 09-12-16
Would you try another book from Kipjo K. Ewers and/or Carla Mercer-Meyer?
This book supposes educated scientists and top level law enforcement use gutter slang trash mouth speech as a normal way of talking. Uneducated people people calling each other foul words in normal conversation is the reality in many places, but not in books I choose to listen to or read.
Do you think The First needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Has one, Not going to pick it up.
Any additional comments?
BITCH let me tell you...... the black uneducated slang talk does not belong in a sci-fi thriller being used by supposedly educated scientists, military generals, FBI directors.... it just ruined the otherwise good book.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

WOW! I need more. Listed to it 2x in 2 days
Revisado: 05-28-14
Would you listen to The Martian again? Why?
Already did! This semi-realistic syfi coupled with perfectly timed humor blew me away! It may not be good for non mechanically minded people. If you tinker you cant pass this up!
What did you like best about this story?
Greats ups and downs! Downs lighted by injected humor at the right moment kept it light and fun!
What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Realistic and feasible, Great main character, you actually root for another serious situation to see how he lightens it up with some humorous remark!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
laughing out loud!
Any additional comments?
Write more books Andy Weir!!

Older read of the 4th book "Guilt"
Revisado: 03-02-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Good story. Good commuter book. It is interesting but will not stop you from turning it off at the end of your drive. Not riviting but a good reader may change this into a much better listen. This is the version that I lisened to, the newer version "Guilt" seemes to have a better reader. Monotone at best, the story kept me listening.
What did you like best about this story?
Story
Would you listen to another book narrated by Graeme Malcolm?
He was ok, not bad enough to avoid on purpose.
Did The Purity of Vengeance inspire you to do anything?
Buy the next book....turned out to be the same story with a different title and reader.
Any additional comments?
Do your homework before buying. For a first read, buy Guilt.
