A good book for anyone who likes the Barsoom series by ERB
Revisado: 03-26-24
This book is a spiritual successor to the Barsoom series it changes all the names of the characters but it's clearly meant to be a continuation of the series. several times throughout the book there are mentions of things that happen in the Barsoom series. Deja nna plays a similar role as Llana of Gathol or Ylana of Callisto by Lin Carter The cover art is also very reminiscent of then Carter's book.
The story starts kinda slow but does a good amount of world building and picks up pace after a few chapters. it does a good job of following ERB's formula and storytelling adventure style.
The biggest issue I have with the audiobook is the virtual voice it makes all of the characters sound the same and doesn't do a great job of showing human emotion. I would love to hear this story be told with a actual voice actor and I think that would bring a lot of depth to the overall feel of the audiobook. but for a book that was free with my membership I can't complain too much. I highly recommend it to any fans of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Lin Carter or old school sword and planet fantasy books.

Historia
In AD 1119, a group of nine crusaders became known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon - a militant monastic order charged with protecting pilgrims and caravans traveling on the roads to and from the Holy Land. In time, the Knights Templar would grow in power and, ultimately, be laid low. But a small offshoot of the Templars endure and have returned to the order's original mission: to defend the roads of the world and guard those who travel on them.

Historia
Yancy Lazarus just wants to be left alone. He wants to play his blues music, smoke a few cigarettes, and otherwise leave the supernatural world to fend for itself. He especially wants to be left alone by the Guild of the Staff - the mage ruling body where he used to work as a fix-it man. But when a little kid gets nabbed by an ancient fae creature from the nether regions of Winter, and the Guild refuses to set things right, he just can't seem to heed good sense and leave things be.

This book was like the Dresden Files meets Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Now all we need is Guy Ritchie to turn it into a film.
