I found this book by chance and I am so glad I did. I was in between book series' and wanted a short listen. Though it was less than 3 hours it delivered like a longer book. The narrator was so good at bringing the characters to life and the mystery lasted until the end. Highly recommend.

I have a love for genealogy and am from the area in Illinois referenced in the book so this story intrigued me and I felt a connection to it. Overall I enjoyed the story. The time travel butterfly effect and genealogy aspects were my favorite. I enjoy love stories with passionate characters but some of the sexual language and cursing felt forced. It just felt out of place and at times repetitive. This author is clearly a good writer so I am not knocking her, just with a few edits it would have gone from a good book to a great book. I will listen to book 3 as well as the linked series because it is an enjoyable series.

Overall I liked this story but something was missing. I agree with others the intimate scenes were a bit much. I've listened to other books with intense scenes but the wording made me cringe a bit. Serene, the main character is likeable but frustrating. She doesn't really try to fit into the time, she curses for shock value, she gets mad people don't believe her right away that she's a time traveler, and SPOILER ALERT wakes up back in her time and doesn't Google Étienne immediately. I find it odd that she is really into antiques and old photos but knows very little about genealogy research. The ending was good and the author does a great job with the mystery aspect. I want to see it through to the end so I will continue on to book 2.

It had been a little while since I listened to the first 2 books so I was worried when I started book 3 because I didn't immediately remember details but very quickly it all came back thanks to Molly Harper's writing skills. This is the second series I've listened to with Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi and really enjoy the combo. I also enjoyed the dragon references in this book considering the other series I listened to was the Mystic Bayou series. It was nice to see Alice come into her own in this book and the new character Colin was a good addition.

Book 2 was just as interesting as book 1. The build up was a little slower but the resolution to the Broussard Ryan mystery was good. Narrator did a great job with the various character. Hope there will be a book 3.

This book popped as a recommendation and I am so glad it did. I wasn't sure what to expect but the concept seemed interesting. The main character Nola is relatable and likeable. The mix of history, New Orleans culture, mystery, personal demons, architecture, and the supernatural work well together. I found myself looking for excuses to put my headphones in so I could listen more. As I got to the end I was delighted to find there is a book 2. The narrator does a great job making the characters distinct with their different voices.
Note: there is a predecessor series with these characters, Tradd Street. I did not find it until after this book. This book stands on its own but if you want to go in order start with the Tradd Street series.

Really enjoyed the story line about the paintings as well as getting more information on Aiden's family. I wish there were more books coming. Two things I did not love: the narrator is not a bad narrator but doesn't seem to fit Kennedy's. Her voice sounds older and doesn't quite fit Kennedy's personality. Second the novella at the end was enjoyable but out of order in timeline. It would have been better at the end of book 1. The Vanessa narrator also wasn't bad but did not fit the expectation of Vanessa who was already narrated by in the previous book setting a baseline for her.

The Virtual Voice this book did a better job at the emotions but the repetitive mispronouncing words was distracting. These are basic things and editor should have caught. It wasn't just one or two words said wrong it was a lot of them. The story itself is a pretty interesting concept and I would love to hear it told with a seasoned narrator.

Kelley Armstrong has become one of my favorite writers to listen to on Audible. The concept for this series is so intriguing and it is clear the author put a lot of time into getting the details right. The narrator does a great job as narrator. Highly recommend.

Years ago I found Sarah's books by chance. She is now my favorite author. After the previous books in the Cascadia series I wasn't sure what else they could go through. Sarah managed to write another great book with plausible and gripping story lines. There are a lot of characters but in a good way (hint: use the Audible bookmark feature to add notes about characters, it makes it easier to keep things straight). Will be anxiously waiting for the next book.
