Historia
“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.” So begins one of the most beloved hymns of all time. This is the autobiography of the man who penned those words. John Newton, the self-proclaimed “wretch”,was an active slave trader for several years until, on a homeward voyage through a violent storm, he experienced what he was later to refer to as his “great deliverance.” He tells of the dramatic, real-life events that led him from sin and bondage to a life transformed by God’s grace.

A marvelous story of the Christian journey!
Revisado: 02-04-23
While I found the audio version of this book a bit hard to listen to do to the quality of recordings, I am so glad that I finished. The story of John Newtons life resonated with me in so many ways. Even though career, circumstances, and even timeline were far removed from my own, I still found great encouragement in his battle for sanctification and eventual rest as our savior lead him by the hand through it all.

Historia
Jesus' words in John 12 are sobering: unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it will bear little fruit. The history of Christianity's expansion proves that God's strategy for reaching unreached peoples with the gospel includes the sufferings of his frontline heralds - the missionaries who willingly die a thousand daily deaths to advance God's kingdom. For William Tyndale, Adoniram Judson, and John Paton, the price they paid to translate the Word of God, to pave the way for missionary mobilization around the world, and to lead the hostile to Christ was great.

A Heart wrenching and heroic story of Gods work in 3 Martyrs
Revisado: 12-23-21
This book reviews the courage, faith, and impact of the lives of 3 men who dedicated their lives to teaching The Gospel. They risked everything they had and persevered through sickness, loss of love ones, as they continued the path that God called them too. John Piper lays out this book in a way that inspires and I highly suggest reading it whether you are a believer in Christ or not. At the very least you will see a very interesting bit of history that has had a huge impact at the world.

This book was fantastic from start to finish. I dare anyone who says King only knows horror to read this, and the rest of the Dark Tower series.
This book gives back story and context to the journey so far.

The quest for answers… God's, Magic, Swords
Revisado: 02-02-20
If you enjoy a more compact fantasy story with a slight flare of Sanderson-like magic then you may very well enjoy this book.
while the length was far less than a typical fantasy, I felt that the author did a very good job of building up a solid basis of knowledge and connection with both the world and the characters. I was still left with a ton of questions about history but it honestly just made me want to read more of the series.
The story starts by just dropping you right into the middle of the tension and then explaining bits of the backstory as it progresses. The magic systems were well thought out and developed right along side the characters.
If you're looking for a fresh new take on magic driven fantasy then I highly suggest trying this series out.

A nightmare that may be closer than you think
Revisado: 02-01-20
A long and winding tunnel full of corridors that want to face your life's biggest regrets, fears, and triumphs. "IT" truly blew me away. On the surface lies an incredible horror and suspense novel about a group who face the monster in the end. When you peel away the layers you realize that it goes much deeper than that. I felt every chapter in this book as a new emotion or a new memory just waiting to be remembered. Stephen King truly knows how to pick the lock on those moments you hid long ago.
The narrator did a truly outstanding job of conveying the feeling in every single scene. He was not afraid to go there and really make your skin crawl with his sinister projection.

Great Middle. Where's the beginning and end?
Revisado: 01-20-20
I enjoyed this book overall but found that it was lacking in many departments. I wish I had some context as to what got them in this situation to begin with rather than the bland and obvious post apocalyptic scene just being there. I really enjoyed and understood each character but really felt no sense of closure at the end of "The Road".

The first collection of stories Stephen King has published since Nightmares & Dreamscapes nine years ago, Everything's Eventual includes one O. Henry Prize winner, two other award winners, four stories published by The New Yorker, and "Riding the Bullet", King's original e-book, which attracted over half a million online readers and became the most famous short story of the decade. Intense, eerie, and instantly compelling, they announce the stunningly fertile imagination of perhaps the greatest storyteller of our time.

Whether you're and avid reader of Stephen King's works or just trying to test the waters, I would highly suggest reading these. This will allow you to sample a variety of different styles all in one book.

Great Book with Great Narration
Revisado: 01-18-20
I loved this book start to finish. Even before any action had occured I was already in it. The characters are developed to a point that you actually care what happens and it has an impact on you as the story progresses. As with most Stephen King this one is a 10/10 Highly Recommend.

Historia
One of the genre's favorite pairs returns in a classic fantasy short for both Riyria veterans and first-time readers. Several years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start their thieves-for-hire organization better known as Riyria. Things have gone well enough for the team as they do "jobs" for various nobles throughout Elan. Usually that means stealing something, but when a young heiress asks them to steal her…well, that's a first for the pair.

Simply Entertaining
Revisado: 12-23-19
I typically get frustrated with the endless tropes and predictable story lines that are found throughout the fiction genre but this one was different. I'm not even sure that I can tell you why but it just was. I knew what was coming the entire time, but, between the narration and the pacing, I remained entertained almost the entire time.
