1960s or 2024?
Revisado: 08-18-24
great story until the cliche ending..unoriginal in that aspect.. even though it takes place in the 1960s, definitely runs parallel to today's current political climate

Historia
It’s autumn in the town of Harrow, but something besides the season is changing there. Because in that town there is an orchard, and in that orchard, seven most unusual trees. And from those trees grows a new sort of apple: strange, beautiful, with skin so red it’s nearly black. Take a bite of one of these apples, and you will desire only to devour another. And another. You will become stronger. More vital. More yourself, you will believe. But then your appetite for the apples and their peculiar gifts will keep growing—and become darker.

good stories not a big fan of the new narrator
Revisado: 09-22-23
I prefer Will Patton's reading of Holly gibney's character. This particular narrator just made Holly sound way too young and peppy and peppy is not Holly gibney. otherwise story is good. actually feel like King went a little easy on us.. It was not gory at all..

Historia
Five years ago, ordinary Americans fell under the grip of a strange new malady that caused them to sleepwalk across the country to a destination only they knew. They were followed on their quest by the shepherds: friends and family who gave up everything to protect them. Their secret destination: Ouray, a small town in Colorado that would become one of the last outposts of civilization. Because the sleepwalking epidemic was only the first in a chain of events that led to the end of the world—and the birth of a new one.

would have preferred different narrator
Revisado: 11-22-22
I would have preferred a different narrator for this book as it's the same narrator that reads his Jonathan stride series, it's just too similar. same accents and inflections. other than that the story is fine.

Historia
Seven-year-old Wen and her parents, Eric and Andrew, are vacationing at a remote cabin on a quiet New Hampshire lake. Their closest neighbors are more than two miles in either direction along a rutted dirt road. One afternoon, as Wen catches grasshoppers in the front yard, a stranger unexpectedly appears in the driveway. Leonard is the largest man Wen has ever seen, but he is young, friendly, and he wins her over almost instantly. Leonard and Wen talk and play until Leonard abruptly apologizes and tells Wen, “None of what’s going to happen is your fault.”

the narrator should never do another audiobook
Revisado: 09-27-22
it was really painful listening to this story be read by the audible narrator. her reading and inflections just do not lend itself to this type of story. I almost gave up on it because of the narration. but I stuck it out. the story itself is was fine. not sure about ending.

the kind of story that makes you angry
Revisado: 08-19-22
so the same narrator has been used for this whole series. he's okay notmally but him attempting to try to do Middle Eastern or Arabic accents was really painful to listen to. .. outside of that is the kind of story that makes you angry because it just really hits on the small minded ignorant people out in our world and how things can snowball out of control really quickly. 0

Historia
Hannah Stander is a consultant for the FBI - a futurist who helps the agency with cases that feature demonstrations of bleeding-edge technology. It's her job to help them identify unforeseen threats: hackers, AIs, genetic modification, anything that in the wrong hands could harm the homeland. Hannah is in an airport, waiting to board a flight home to see her family, when she receives a call from Agent Hollis Copper. "I've got a cabin full of over a thousand dead bodies," he tells her. Whether those bodies are all human, he doesn't say.
