Well worth it
Revisado: 01-23-25
I don’t always like books that move back and forth between past and present but this author does it amazingly. As war stories go this one is realistic without being SO sad. A long book with a good pace and the perfect amount of suspense.

Historia
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Unbelievable
Revisado: 11-29-24
Although the topic of women in controlling/ abusive relationship is portrayed well I found it difficult to buy into the idea that the main character was so unaware of the true characters of others. Mediocre story. .

A bit predictable
Revisado: 07-20-24
Nothing very special, nothing terrible just ok. I felt the story lacked development with three parents making major decisions that all seemed impulsive. It felt like an idea for a story that the author and editor didn’t take the time to flush out into a excellent book.

I really liked the narration. Intriguing story that is straight forward, informative and very well written. Makes you think about how far we have come and how much that era still shapes certain individuals thinking today. Would make a good mini series.

Historia
The benefits of restrictive diets like paleo and keto have been touted for more than a decade, but as renowned gastroenterologist Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, or "Dr. B", illuminates in this groundbreaking audiobook, the explosion of studies on the microbiome makes it abundantly clear that elimination diets are in fact hazardous to our health. What studies clearly now show - and what Dr. B preaches with his patients - is that gut health is the key to boosting our metabolism, balancing our hormones, and taming the inflammation that causes a host of diseases.

Historia
What is Rick Mercer going to do now? That was the question on everyone's lips when the beloved comedian retired his hugely successful TV show after 15 seasons - and at the peak of its popularity. The answer came not long after, when he roared back in a new role as stand-up-comedian, playing to sold-out houses wherever he appeared. And then COVID-19 struck. And his legions of fans began asking again: What is Rick Mercer going to do now? Well, for one thing, he's been writing a comic masterpiece.

Even his Memoir is creative and brilliant
Revisado: 12-18-21
Besides how absolutely hilarious this man is, this work is so enjoyable because he is no way arrogant. Listening to it you think "Rick has no idea how brilliant he is!" The are many funny parts but you also feel you get a genuine story, no pretention. I use to see a lot of his work on TV but since getting rid of capable I had not seen any of his work. Brilliant way to get an audience Rick, write a book during Covid! Can't wait to see what he does next.

A crumbling lighthouse is not part of the inheritance Army doctor Ben Garrison expects to claim when he journeys to Hope Harbor. Hope Harbor Herald editor Marci Weber has other ideas. She may not be a Hope Harbor native, but the small Oregon seaside town has become home - and she's determined to save the Pelican Point landmark.

What was not mentioned in the synopsis
Revisado: 11-10-21
This should be categorized under Christian romance novels. I bought this on a sale when I saw her writing style was compared to Robyn Carr. If I had any idea it was Christian romance I would have passed. If you can get past the not so subtle Christian agenda, the story is just ok. I found it to be too formulated! Not much surprises you. The author creates a very simplistic view of life and this may be intentional to capture readers who want to escape the very real difficulties of life. I think this story can set people up to feel like failures when there own love life does not match up to the reality they are living.

This should have been half a book
Revisado: 10-27-21
The story alternates between then and now. I found the pacing a bit slow. As I listened I hope it would become a bit more exciting. It did not. I was disappointed when I learned the basic premise (no spoilers) really was not unique. It ends with the clear possibility of another book. I would have rather seen the pace picked up and the the ending have been the middle of the book and seen the story continue from there.

Mixed review
Revisado: 08-20-21
I found a lot of the story somewhat unbelievable. The two sisters in the story made so many stupid and dangerous choices that they became quite unlikable. However if you can get past this, the second half of the book builds in suspense and is a pretty good listen. The narrator does a good job of the different voices.
