I finished it, but wouldn’t recommend.
Revisado: 03-30-25
Ok, this started slow, I mean it was like chapter 26 before I was interested. I wanted to throw in the towel the entire time. I finished it, but wouldn’t recommend or read again. Too much “setting the stage, and very predictable.
Narrator was excellent, but story was boring.

The first saw the performance was phenomenal. The narrator was on point and it made the book so enjoyable. If you are a sports fan, you were going to love this book. I fell in love with Sully and his sweet family, and the reality of the Western world is heartbreaking.

This would make a great short story.
Revisado: 06-10-24
I usually love a Frank Peretti book, however, I would not recommend this book. It went on and on and on it could’ve been written in for short chapters. the metaphor of the book was great but way too long. Not a fan of this book.

Liked the story, and plan to read it with my middle school classes. It’s a hot topic and addressing it through literature is a great way to open up conversations.

But Miguel didn’t bet on meeting Rondell or Mong or on any of what happened after they broke out. He only thought about Mexico and getting across the border to where he could start over....

She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose's father brought home. Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. And they are often home alone, as Rose's father spends most evenings at a bar, and doesn't have much patience for his special-needs daughter.
