Historia
Many people over 40 are restlessly fuming, knowing they are sitting on marketable skills, ideas, and experience, yet those attributes are not being profitably applied. Often they feel stuck by circumstances, fear, unproductive mindsets, and limiting corporate structures. Stop Circling is for companies and individuals who need both inspiration and updated business plan designs to escape personal and professional roundabouts and instead to pursue "What's next?"

The place to start for Emerging Leaders
Revisado: 06-28-23
Deborah Johnson wrote this book in her series of books to help people who feel they are stuck in life, caught in an endless circle. And it surely delivers there. She covers such topics as Health, Attitude, Learning, Finances, Employment, Relationships and Spirituality. She sums these up as her HALFERS model. This book is an in-depth guide to understand each of these areas, assess yourself and embark on a plan of change. Deborah walks the reader through each category step by step to find their way toward greater possibilities.
From my perspective (one who is extensively read in the self-improvement genre, and not feeling stuck myself), I didn't find the exercises particularly helpful to me and where I'm at in life. However, I work with a lot of Emerging Leaders in business. For these Emerging Leaders who are mostly young, I am convinced that this book can be a great entry point to self-improvement. You do not have to be "stuck" to find significant value from this book.
Examples of material pertinent to young leaders are her guide to figuring out your own values. I agree that this is an important step that is needed to unstick people as well as to serve those who are young in life, figuring things out for the first time. The book, as a guide, is easy to follow and (in my opinion) ought to be a resource tapped by the young adults who aren't even experienced enough in life to get themselves stuck (or circling).
At the end, the author again shares insights from behind the scenes in writing the book. This is similar to the bonus content she provided in her book The Summit. One more thing, the audio book includes a 47 page bonus download .pdf. I suggest downloading it and printing it before listening to the audiobook, then following along and completing all the fill-ins as you go; pause and resume as necessary to take the time to do the work to journal as you go through it.

Historia
These Desired Things is a stimulating, philosophical offering; a tour de force in creative writing. Praised in review as "imagery and literature at its finest", defining this book's genre seems largely superfluous - for its immersive, lyrical text is part fiction, part memoir, part autobiography. The chapters are presented as a collection of 11 short stories: all of them varying in their individual plots, their settings and their style, yet all of them remain essential elements of the whole; for running through each is a series of subtle, uniting threads.

Surreal stories, heartwarming, best narration ever
Revisado: 02-20-22
Steve Matchett is incredibly creative. These stories all have a thread which bind them together … besides Motorsport. There is nothing like his ability to capture the reader by his narration. And the way he reads the dialogue as an 80 year old wise but uneducated veteran is superb.

Good audiobook for kids to young adults
Revisado: 11-22-21
This audiobook would be great for a teen. I chose it because I’ve previously read the author but found this written to a much younger audience (I’m 60) than expected. Good story for kids because it is uplifting, encouraging and captures the imagination. Includes a journey, keys, jewels, creativity, etc. Too many allegories for my taste and maturity though. I don’t prefer to read a lot of fiction these days. What made this book good was that it was read by the author. She does a great job with emphasis and inflection skills at the right points. My favorite part was actually the afterward where the author provided tips for writing (use index cards) and producing a book.

Too bad narrator doesn't know the racing scene.
Revisado: 03-10-21
I never review books but I felt I had to for this one. The author was okay and for someone like myself who follows CHAMP/CART/IndyCar/IRL racing the story was good. But the narrator obviously had no idea of the Indy race personalities ... maybe never even watched a race. 75% of the names were mis-pronounced. This is inexcusable. Either the narrator should be picked from a racing enthusiast, watch a few races himself, be assigned a guide from the industry to advise on pronunciations or simply ASK! It is shocking that Jack Arute would stand for such ignorance in pronunciation of so many names. Knowing the people involved (the whole book is about specific characters at Indy), it was very confusing for me as the narrator would talk about someone by name and I would have to think through who he was meant to be describing. Very much ruined it for me. Also, his tempo was terribly wrong. There were obvious headings and then a few paragraphs describing a story. The narrator read them like: Heading ... <pause> ... story, heading ... <pause> ... story, heading. It was confusing because it seemed like the (totally unrelated) heading was supposed to be part of what he just read rather than what was to come. More confusion.

Captivating story. Fantastic narration! I rarely ever read fiction anymore but this was recommended for its narration. I was intrigued by the story but even more amazed at the job done by the narrator. She plays the part of several people exceptionally well and communicates the feelings and expressions in the story to make it come alive.
