Historia
Years have passed since the demon Tarrik and his master, the sorcerer Ren, destroyed the servants of Samal and suppressed the very essence of the vile lord. The cost was greater than even a demon could have imagined. But in the realms of demons and humans, no evil can be fully controlled, and no one’s true fate can be foretold. Including Tarrik’s. He’s been summoned once more, now by the vengeful Linriel, who’s fallen in with one of Samal’s ravaged survivors.

My favorite M Hogan story line. Tarik is the man (demon)! An unlikely irreverent hero. Cheers.

Boring. Sucked. Don’t bother.

This was awful. Painful. Tries way too hard. Flimsy characters. Super slow. Wish I could get $ back.

Historia
Outcast and exiled, the demon Tarrik Nal-Valim has long been forgotten by the world of humans. At least, so he thinks. But when he is summoned as a last resort by a desperate sorcerer, it seems as though his past has caught up with him. The sorcerer is Serenity “Ren” Branwen, the daughter of Tarrik’s former master - and friend. Though she seems cold, driven, and ruthless, Tarrik can tell Ren has her back against a wall, and he is compelled by ferocious powers to obey her.

Really love the main character
Revisado: 10-13-20
I don’t write many reviews but wanted to give a shout out to M Hogan. I bought this book on audible and listened to it a while ago. I read it right after the Caldan series. It’s such a different book/story. And the sorcery is different in the two series. it took me a while to get into it. I finished and thought - this was ok but I liked the Caldan novels more. But I re-listened to the book recently and I really understood where Mitchell was going with the story. I love the irreverent, matter of fact personality of Tarik. Pretty complex character, which you would probably not think about when you are talking about a demon. Anyway. Have listened to the book three times. Each time appreciating the book and enjoying it more. Looking forward to future books in the series.
