If you had the fortunate experience of working for the man, this revisitation to his singular expressive consciousness and process of storytelling is like being back in a
trailer or soundstage at Deadwood, listening to him reveal and illuminate the drama of the scene at hand, rapt in the journey upon which he is taking us.
The further sharing of his personal life and struggles especially the contribution of his wife, Rita give a keen emotional context to this self summation of a true artist.

More informative about the intersection of art and process, mastering process to make great drama in the demanding work of directing high quality movies. An auto biography from one of our greatest directors and filmmakers who is not celebrated enough.

Phillip Roth would certainly listen!

This wonderful brilliant novel has been been given another incarnation as a perfectly put together audio book. The book is a great read (Front Page NYTimes Book Review June 2021) (NYTimes and Wall St Journal Best books of 2021.) but it sets a new standard for an audio book. This is Partly because Joshua Cohen is one of the notable narrators and keeps the smart sardonic writing pitch perfect when read aloud. The music and SFX enhance without ever interfering.
You almost want to sit around with your friends listening to this clever and comedic tale of the intersection of an upstate university prof and Benzion Netanyahu like you would going to a Coen Bros movie.

Hard to put down

As an NYU film school grad in 1973 this was the world of Hollywood filmmaking I wanted to know and be part of. As I worked my way up in editing rooms there was so much beyond that you heard about but didn’t understand . This intelligent masterful book explains a lot and puts that world an era in context.’

Should be Required reading in business schools

Very well told. Important to know. UnderstAnding the history of certain key financial ideas in the financial markets and how they came ab.out is as important as being able buy a stock or make an investment. Very well done

Disappointing

If this is the great Murakami I have so long been waiting to read, I am quite let down. The stories of both novels are ok but ultimately unremarkable. Perhaps if you are reading /listening to explore his early work, this would have value as his first two efforts. But otherwise skip it and jump
to much later stuff. It’s got to be better than this.
