Historia
After facing war, death, unruly gods, and unmitigated evil, Minalan the Spellmonger is forced to return to Farise, the site of his earliest battles, with the simple assignment to conquer the subtropical city-state and expel the pirates that plague the kingdom’s shipping. Tired of warfare, Minalan embarks on a clandestine campaign to do so, assuming an alias and setting up shop in Farise as a mere Practical Adept as cover for his operation. Recruiting a cadre of talented agents to assist, he reluctantly begins the task of infiltrating and observing Farisian society.

Another Good entry in the Spellmonger Series
Revisado: 10-13-24
I have read and/or listened to all the Spellmonger books. They aren’t deep books just fun stories about interesting characters. I have some complaints but still enjoy them. My personal biggest negative is the inclusion of Sci-fi elements. I love fantasy and hate to see it ruined by the inclusion of the Sci-fi elements but at least to this point they aren’t overwhelming. I also think more stories where Min is not the primary focus would be great. There are many interesting characters that could have entertaining stories. Lastly from a negative perspective is that many book narrators seem not to go back to listen to how they pronounced certain names or terms from past books of the same series. John Lee is an excellent narrator but often pronounces names differently from one book to the next. I sounded negative but I really do like these books and do recommend them.

Historia
The Empire of the Wolf is on its knees, but there's life in the great beast yet. To save it, Sir Konrad Vonvalt and Helena must look beyond its borders for allies—to the wolfmen of the southern plains, and the pagan clans in the north. But old grievances run deep, and both factions would benefit from the fall of Sova. Even these allies might not be enough. Their enemy, the zealot Bartholomew Claver, wields infernal powers bestowed on him by a mysterious demonic patron. If Vonvalt and Helena are to stand against him, they will need friends on both sides of the mortal plane.

Good Read
Revisado: 10-03-24
The narrator did a very good job and the story was good really liked some of the characters. It got a little long in the final section of the book but it picked back up. Overall I recommend this trilogy

Nice use of a cultural not normally seen in fantasy
Revisado: 08-12-24
I liked the use of the Island setting which I compared to Polynesia, I would have liked to seen the culture brought out more. I love the Viking or European like fantasy setting but this was a great change, also the empire which seems to be similar to China was really good. It was a solid story and I will get the next two.

Entering story not to complicated
Revisado: 07-05-24
It’s what I expect from Hamilton good story good characters not a complicated story but entertaining. John Lee’s narration is as always fantastic. It was a little strange at first hearing Minalan the Spellmonger’s voice in a totally different world.

Another great story in the Banished Lands
Revisado: 05-03-24
The only negative I have about book 2 is the same as book 1. After reading the the first series The Faithful and the Fallen the second series is just to short I’m greedy and just want it to be longer.

Each book on this series was better than the previous one. I’ve been reading fantasy since the 1980’s and highly recommend these books. I had never read anything by this author before but will certainly in the future.
