Acerca de esta escucha

"Narrator Damian Lynch’s depiction of the sword is especially creepy and compelling. Lynch has a great sense of dialogue and pitch overall, and keeps this dramatic tale moving." -Locus

From New York Times bestselling author Jay Kristoff comes Empire of the Vampire, the first volume of an astonishing new dark fantasy saga.

From holy cup comes holy light;
The faithful hand sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.

It has been twenty-seven long years since the last sunrise. For nearly three decades, vampires have waged war against humanity; building their eternal empire even as they tear down our own. Now, only a few tiny sparks of light endure in a sea of darkness.

Gabriel de León is a silversaint: a member of a holy brotherhood dedicated to defending realm and church from the creatures of the night. But even the Silver Order could not stem the tide once daylight failed us, and now, only Gabriel remains.

Imprisoned by the very monsters he vowed to destroy, the last silversaint is forced to tell his story. A story of legendary battles and forbidden love, of faith lost and friendships won, of the Wars of the Blood and the Forever King and the quest for humanity’s last remaining hope:

The Holy Grail.

When compiling our list of the best fantasy listening out there, we immediately came up against the age-old question: Is this fantasy or science fiction? The distinction is not as clear as you may think. Dragons, elves, and wizards are definitely fantasy, but what about wizards that also fly space ships? (Looking at you, Star Wars.) For the sake of fantasy purity, the top 100 fantasy listens include the best audio works in all manner of fantasy subgenres.

The most important thing is entertainment. Does this book entertain? Absolutely.
is it worth the buy? Absolutely.

It's very violent and dark, the characters are likable and you feel invested in them. The author has done a great job in getting you invested in these characters.
My criticism, is that there isn't anything new here. All the twists, in plot line are telegraphed a mile away. To the point where I roll my eyes when finally reveled. I spend the whole time hoping it isn't what I think. That a new route is taken and no we are walking the same old path.
However, sometimes we don't need to reinvent the wheel, sometimes walking down the same old trodden path is exactly what we want.

Very entertaining and cliche.

Kristoff does it again. he's done something with Empire of the Vampire that I've failed to see in most media: he's made vampires terrifying. This book takes concepts one might find in The Witcher, Castlevania, and Blade and grinds them up, adds a dash of blasphemy, the emotional complexity of Frankenstein, and serves it cold.

hellishly beautiful, masterfully executed, and thick with delicious plot twists, Empire of the Vampire represents a new standard in fantasy horror.

masterfully, beautifully written

I waited a long time to read this book and I’m so relieved to say it did not disappoint. The story pulled me in from the first chapter and the action was nonstop. No element of masterful storytelling was left out. The drama, humor, heartbreak and intensity will leave me on the edge of my seat until the next book is released.

Mind blowing!!!

Are there are words to truly describe how epically amazing this book really is? No. No there are not.
So take these inferior words and do with them what you will.
Epic, Non-stop, amazing, edge of your seat, phenomenal.

Kristoff, narratives are never that great in terms of originality or unexpectedness. But you show up for his characters and his ability to describe. It’s hit or miss in this book sometimes it’s like holy shit this is good all the time meh. But if you’re into vampires and sex this book is for you.

Predictable, overall OK.

This story wasn’t horrible it was ok it just reminded me a lot of Anne rice’s story interview with a vampire. Perhaps not the romanticized version of a vampire or the forever dwelling in a lonely existence but the way the story is laid out a vampire “cold blood” is interviewing a “silver blood” or half breed on his journey to the end l; also known as silver saint. There are many happy and tragic moments in the story. All in all it was good just not original I know I know vampires are nothing new and is anything truly original? Well perhaps. The story did seem to drag but it is a thick book. I have the hard copy and the book is beautiful but it wasn’t something I could just sit down and enjoy.

The story is geared towards 16+ although honestly I can’t see a child that young actually sitting through it. There are triggers just you know death and such. “Vampires” “end of days” nothing exceptionally explicit in the more adult sense.

All in all is the book well written and edited, answer yes.

Vampires and 1/2 bloods

A gorgeous tome from my favorite author. His imagery and prose are incredible. Just perfect.

Beautiful

it is a fun pulpy romp, but full of the over sexualizing of women and rip off of a line directly from watchmen used for a pivotal scene.

good story tarnished
