Not funny. A litany of superficial self-help cliches from someone who tells crude jokes for a living.

Graham Norton shows us flawed humans negotiating complex relationships in the context of cultural judgment and bias. He was able to show the personal costs of social bigotry through the lives of (mostly) likable characters. No one escapes the social pressures, though some behave better than others. Frankie is an unforgettable character and it was a pleasure to spend time with her.

I couldn’t understand why the narration was so bland and monotonous, with strange mispronunciations, like a robot. At the end, it is identified as “virtual voice”. The story was interesting but ruined by this narration.

Her willingness to share her pain and embarrassment makes all the difference. It’s nice to know that we are not alone those inexperience excruciating moments of bullying and rejection.

This was a major disappointment. The information was simply presented without sufficient explanation. The writing was awkward at times, with incorrect grammar and vocabulary (e.g., exasperate for exacerbate) -- well below what I would expect from doctoral-level training or professional editing. The narration was bizarre -- I thought I was listening to a computer. There are many better books on narcissism out there.
