Historia
They are the Lost Legions. Famed warriors in the annals of military history, made famous when they struck out for the stars to fight a Savage invasion ... never to return or be heard from again. Until new evidence is uncovered that a Lost Legion sleeps in the pocked craters of a distant mining world. Sergeant Carson Metzger, a replacement pilot for a Republic HARD HK-PP mech unit, is sent to act as security for the science team seeking to confirm the discovery of the fabled missing legion. But when the local miners object to the arrival of Republic forces, tensions simmer to an all-out boil.

Good but, least favorite OftC books
Revisado: 11-25-24
There’s nothing wrong with the book or the idea behind it but, it just never clicked as a storyline for me. I just kept waiting for the normal mental immersion for GE books, nada.
I think, so far, the OftC portion of this series has been borderline the whole time but this one just fell short.
Not sure of it was the narrator difference, writing, or the plot… just never gelled for me.

6-hours and still bored
Revisado: 11-02-24
Huge space opera fan, also a fan of free omnibus books, this is boring. Also, the dumping of names/titles/sects/etc rapid fire, think learning a new language at 60-mph. Thinking of the dozens of genre similar series I’ve read over the decades, this is the first that seems to assume the reader will be drawn into the story with minimal understanding, knowledge, or background of the characters and scene setting.
As I said in the title, I am 6-hours in (1.5x speed so 12-hours left) and just bored waiting for something to grab my attention. Other reviewers seem to love this series so maybe it’s just me.

Revisado: 08-23-24
This “virtual voice” is the worst, what’s with the breathy quiver inflection? Just why?
Also, there’s zero actual information in the audio. Zero.
If it wasn’t free, it would need to pay me to listen again.

Virtual voice is fine but still needs an editor
Revisado: 07-27-24
I am noticing that a lot of the authors who choose Virtual Voice are under the impression they don’t need to edit the manuscript before submission. Thus we get singular words where plurals should have been used or vice versa. Similarly, Warren Buffet’s name is being pronounced as a food buffet instead of as though something is being “buffeted”. That’s on Virtual Voice to fix but, for these authors I imagine these books are meant to be used as “The author of xXxX book on XxXx”… but it’s a horrible calling card when anyone listening to the book is constantly distracted by the mistakes in tenses or names.
Can’t really say it’s a great book but, as an intro/basic book it’s not bad either… for free ;)

Repeating, repeatingly, repetitive
Revisado: 07-07-24
Trying to get into this, half way through now, but seriously, what is with the repetition of “but if you listen to me, you will be better off”. Dude, I am listening to the book, just freaking get on with it. I get it, ethos, logos, pathos. But, at some point, you have gone beyond those and created annoyance.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Not too bad but…
Revisado: 04-14-24
I listened to the free books, I had seen all the hype about the series so I figured “Hey, it’s free, why not see?”. It was not that the series was bad, it just never caught me up in it. The sly tricks of the MC came across more like missing dialogue in the previous section rather than misdirection or guile, same for the mystery section of the series… it just wasn’t an “Ah ha!” moment for me. The supporting characters were less supporting and more window dressing and scene setting.
I have not gone beyond the freebies because I couldn’t find a reason to spend/use credits on this series.

It all ends here. Every decision, battle, triumph, and heartache has led the galaxy to this moment. The Republic is spun wildly into sudden war as Gomarii slavers, in overwhelming numbers, strike on behalf of their Savage allies. The battle is fiercest on a newly rediscovered world: Earth. But galactic war is only the symptom of an older, deeper, and far more dangerous conflict. Now, Keel and Ravi must work frantically to assemble the warriors needed to withstand an ancient threat, and Prisma must wrestle to control her own inner darkness.

Loving portions but…
Revisado: 11-27-22
First, R.C. Bray is the man.
Second, great storyline as always.
Third, I get that R.C.’s time is limited but really? This came across like a short vs a two part book. I get the annoyed responses from a lot of folks, I am not far off of their thinking. However, unlike a lot of other super long story lines (Looking at you o’ writer of Undying Merc’s series), the storyline keeps growing, evolving, and staying fresh without just rehashing the same rinse repeat cycle.
So, for now, I am sticking with the series. Even accepting part 2 will be short too. Monthly credits exist for a reason.

Historia
Previous histories have focused on the KGB, leaving military intelligence and the special service - which specialized in codes and ciphers - lurking in the shadows. Drawing on previously neglected Russian sources, Haslam reveals how both were in fact crucial to the survival of the Soviet state. This was especially true after Stalin's death in 1953, as the Cold War heated up and dedicated Communist agents the regime had relied upon - Klaus Fuchs, the Rosenbergs, Donald Maclean - were betrayed.

Why is he narrating this like it’s a secret or a mystery?
Revisado: 11-14-22
The information is interesting and the cadence is fine for the written material.
The narration, however, is abysmal. Why on earth he made the choice to read as though it’s a mystery or something similar is beyond me. Super takes away from the non-fiction subject and makes it out to be more of a young adults mystery novel. Just horrible.
