Historia
For a century, the Panama Canal has served as the path between the seas. Control of this vital waterway is the difference between free trade and chaos in world markets. So when Panamanian President Rafael Botero asks for a show of support against the socialist opposition, his old friend President Jack Ryan can’t turn down an invitation to visit the country, but what seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown coup d’état erupts.

Revisado: 12-01-23
Scott Brick’s narration paints a picture of people, places, weather, and things influencing the decisions made. Scott Brick is one of the best, if not the best narrators in the business. Narration is key to understanding the position and motives of the participants. I have listened all of Tony Hillerman’s

An entertaining read for listening to while working on a project. The narrator was very good. She had female and male characters easily so you had no difficulty determining which character was speaking.

Mitch Rapp is used to winning. But in this follow-up to number-one New York Times best-selling The Survivor, the CIA operative finds himself chasing false leads from continent to continent in an effort to keep Pakistani nukes from falling into the hands of terrorists. Together with friend and colleague Scott Coleman, Rapp struggles to prevent the loss of these lethal weapons, particularly because Russia is also interested in the nukes, though not for the same reason as Rapp and Coleman.

Historia
An unexpected death on a lonely road outside of Utah’s Bears Ears National Park raises questions for Navajo Tribal Police officers Jim Chee and Bernadette Manuelito. Why would a seasoned outdoorsman and well-known paleontologist freeze to death within walking distance of his car? A second death brings more turmoil. Who is the unidentified man killed during a home invasion where nothing seems to have been taken? Why was he murdered? An illicit business, a fossilized jaw bone, hints of witchcraft, and a mysterious disappearance during a blizzard add to the peril.

Very poor narrator.
Revisado: 07-02-23
This narrator does not have the cadence that other narrators have. Her narration does not convey the emotions of the characters in the novel. I have listened to every Hillerman novel about the Navajo Tribal Police for more than 30 years. George Guidall is the undisputed champion reader. He brought every character to life. I will continue to listen to the Hillerman books, but please hire a professional narrator!

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-25-22
I have read and/or listened to all of the Tony and Anne Hillerman books. All of the books preceding this title, have been well crafted, rich in detail which captured the reader’s imagination. This book did not measure up to those books.
The narrators of the previous books were masters of capturing the personalities, gender, and moods of the characters. The narrator of this title was not able to help the reader tell if the character was male or female or when they had switched from one character to another. It was extremely difficult for me to finish listening to the book.
