So the narration is what caused me to stop a few hours in. This is my first virtual narration book. The book is written in such a way that only one person is talking, acting, thinking, or focusing at a time. Good for setting up a story and character development. When having to interact with others is where the narration lacks. There is no change in pitch or cues to differentiate between characters. I think the story would be solid with a person or multiple virtual narration.

This one flew by. Felt rushed. A lot of weapon stats to fill word count. The ending was ... horrible. I mean, if he left a way out, I'll skip the next installment of Adam Ownage.

I cannot finish this book. The narrator has done other good works, this one isn't it.

I could not finish this book. It jumps around too much. The characters are not believable. No one first impulse goes to cooking meth on day two of an EMP to supply etc etc. An engineer that can’t figure stuff out?

The book had so much promise. The disjointed and disconnected story lines were annoying. They did come together in an unbelievable fashion. I think what rally broke this for me, other than the narrator, was when they reference a Romero zombie but still didn't know about zombies or know how to kill them. Ugg. It was like two books in one and shuffled together.

I got 80% through the book before I could not take it anymore. She is an awesome motherly character! She makes many mistakes, although she has 'trained' to be a prepper. I can forgive her mistakes, until she make the same mistake for the 5th time! Example. Runs around a blind spot into a zombie. When she could have taken a step away from said object and not literally ran into a zombie. How she wasn't infected 10x over is a mystery. Tess is always a great narrator. Please go into this book with a YA fiction attitude. And if you were a mother protecting your children, wouldn't you be teaching them as much and as fast as possible about the ZA?

Not really containing spoilers.
Ok. It took me a few days to calm down after this book. I admit, I liked the first two books. I chalk Christian’s stupidity up to just being ordinary guy in an extraordinary position. I enjoyed watching him grow. I even winced my way though the whining tone of the narrator for women. Then he stopped growing in this book. He became more selfish and no regard for all those who put their faith in him.
Around 70% through, I realized he hasn’t grown at all. In hindsight, he is the same. He puts everyone in his convoy at risk for personal reasons time and time again. Everyone wants to see if their family is alive, but they will not endanger humanity or Christian for personal gain. Somehow he thinks he’s special. And everyone thanks him for it. Personally, I would have tied him up, put a gag in his mouth, and barreled to the Hoover Dam. I am done with this series I am sad to say.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would for a quick zombie fix read.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact he's trying to get to his wife and daughter.

Which scene was your favorite?

There is a scene that the characters use a telescopic electrical truck to break int a building. Haven't thought of or seen that before, original.

Any additional comments?

The story only follows the first three days of the outbreak. It is very hard for writers to capture and portray the fall of civilization in that small timeframe. The author does a good job, but some of his explanations/situations are too convenient.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The book starts out very well. The middle and end are rough. I like books with some struggles. I do not like it when everything conveniently falls into place. More descriptions would be nice as well.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

Denver. He is very upbeat, despite how he was raised.

Did Critical Dawn inspire you to do anything?

No. I do not think I will pursue the series.

Any additional comments?

I think the series has/had great potential. I just think it is geared more towards a younger audience. It is an easy listen and not too many dynamic characters, that you can't keep track of them.

What made the experience of listening to Tomorrow War the most enjoyable?

It gets back to his roots of journal style entries. It is told from his point of view in the future. I enjoyed his "DBDA" series and Jay Snyder's performance really helped make the book feel real. Jay does an awesome job again with his performance of Max. This book sometimes felt a little rushed, but nothing like "Shattered Hourglass". This does not look to be a new series or he left it open ended enough to just be a one-off story. Overall its a good story and enjoyable. I would have finished it in one day of binge listening if the job didn't get in the way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tomorrow War?

Motorcycle Head. No spoilers.

Which character – as performed by Kevin T. Collins and Jay Snyder – was your favorite?

Jay Snyder did most of the narration with Kevin doing the "interludes." They both are awesome performers and this book didn't distinguish one over the other.
