Light spirited yet still serious enough to engage the thought process and solve the puzzle ..

The computer generated voice has no understanding of “sayings” and colloquial phrases and makes listening odd and off putting - too “sing - song” up down vocalizing doesn’t match the content /meaning of the words !

Historia
Wayne Castine was found brutally murdered and the murderer remains at large. Castine, a suspected child predator, was killed in Brattleboro where he was involved with a tangled network of an extended family living in a local trailer park. Any member of the clan would have had the opportunity to kill him, and, as he was involved with both the mother and her 12 year old daughter, reason to commit the murder.

What happened to the previous narrator?
Revisado: 04-04-23
I don’t like finding fault with the narrators - but I can’t let this
One pass without being up front about it - it was terrible! It took quite a while to even figure out which exaggerated growling low register voice was whose and even the female voices were were deep male sounding & phony ! Please find a different reader - the story suffered for these distracting , contrived voice choices!

Enjoyed this mystery to the end …the characters were strong & the story lines kept one wondering “who’s who” & how will it all end. Good read

Excellent read…
Revisado: 02-14-23
The language of a bygone era is a tonic to the ears! It’s made all the more endearing when it’s revealed to be from actual letters of the time. The viewpoints of this young girl transitioning into womanhood as she is expected to take on what, even today, would be seen as a male role, comes across as complicated yet genuine & heartfelt. The family’s situation gives a peak into a time when slavery was callously accepted as a “necessary” business practice. It also shows that some empathy & appreciation for the contributions and value of the slaves as human beings could coexist within that social dynamic, albeit rare for the time. It was uplifting to hear the outcomes for the INDIGO girl & the cast of characters she lived & worked with!
