Finally Back on track!
Revisado: 07-29-24
I think this is the best book since book 8 or 9. The story stayed on track, things got accomplished, and some new crazy possibilities have opened up. Can't wait for what comes next!

Historia
A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.

Revisado: 06-01-24
The narrator is absolutely horrendous to my ears, but unfortunately I like the story and have to go through 3 more books with him.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

This story didn't seem like the others. It felt like someone else wrote it in some ways. I feel like there were 3 stories going on at once and we learned almost nothing about any of them. The same chapter was basically repeated 5 times. get chased, hide, get chased, hide...over and over without much variety. The stuff going on with the "Boboverse" seemed like a much more interesting story line, but it was the back story. Then it ends with Bob and a character that we barely learned anything about in the book. Very odd compared to the other 3 and about 4 hours longer than it needed to be. Overall it's worth the credit, but not as fun or interesting as the other 3 books.

Easy to follow.
Revisado: 02-02-24
I have both read and listened to this story. Both are done very well and are easy to follow. My reading ability is much higher than my listening ability, but because of the pacing in this book I don't have a lot of trouble listening to it. The story is interesting and it's a good length for my non-Chinese brain to digest. As with all the other Mandarin Companion books, I still don't understand why the Chapters are read in English. It is very distracting and makes me lose focus on Chinese. I find it hard to keep my mind from wandering when I listen to a foreign language. Throwing in a loud English voice every 10 minutes makes it worse. That is the only point I knocked off on my review. The rest is great!

Felt like a filler Anime
Revisado: 12-02-23
I've been saying it for a couple books and others have as well, they NEED better editing. Not want, NEED. The repetitive dialogue is destroying the flow of the story. As for the story, it was half nothing and half build up toooo...The next book. This is by far the worst book in the series. I wasn't invested in anything until the last 2 hours of the book. The story seemed like it was going in a very specific direction then it just didn't. It turned into a completely random seeming other story line. The things we have been wondering about since the last book were basically tossed aside for an anime filler type storyline. It was disappointing. The only things keeping this book 3 stars for me is the previous 9 books reputation and Heath Miller.

Enjoyed it but wanted more.
Revisado: 10-10-23
I was pretty excited for this book because I enjoyed the first two very much. I am pleased with how the book ended, but I feel like for being the longest book so far it said the least. I feel like too many topics were covered without really digging into them.
The over all story line and concept is very nice. I am very curious about what will happen next. I'm looking forward to the MC growing and getting to know other characters more. That being said....
The "performance" side of this book if very different from the first 2. I feel like the effects and noises were just there for the sake of being there. They didn't enhance the narrator at all. If anything they took away from a very solid narration. Also, unfortunately I can't stand the female voices. It makes it very hard to connect with any of the female characters. The women narrator in the first book was good and I'm sad she hasn't been a part of the next 2. The very generic Transylvanian voices are annoying and the Marshals growling voice makes me tune out, even though I really like her character.
Overall I enjoy the series and look forward to the rest!

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Does Ordinal really stand a chance against the ever growing darkness?

At This Point I'm only Reading to see How is Ends.
Revisado: 07-08-23
I will start off by saying this is the first of the six books where I thought the narration was not as good as previous books. I don't know why the narrator decided to switch up his style in this book, but it has been carrying the book up until this point. If I wasn't buying these books with audible credits I would be very upset and probably abandon the series. The author is all over the place with storylines, timelines, powers, levels, skills, and anything else that makes a cohesive story.
The first half of the book is basically atrocious. I almost stopped listening several times. I am also pretty positive there are a couple hours of this book where I have no idea what was going on. The only thing that really saves it is the second half or really more honestly the last third of the book. I am so lost in all the little tiny side stories that I barely even know why the main character is looking for all these artifacts or doing half the things he does. The author starts on one story without finishing another story and never really goes back and closes any loops.
Half of the characters don't really make any sense. They really seem like they are there just to fill pages. The only character I really have any interest in is Sir Dalton and (some) of his daughters.
Finally the timeline just breaks the story completely. We are six books in and he is only been in this new world for TWO MONTHS!!?? In those two months he has maxed himself out several times, fallen in love, lost his love, been in several wars, battles, and life changing events. Rather than him getting smarter or figuring anything out during this time, he gets into more complicated situations that not only confuse him, but also the reader.
I will most likely finish this series, but It will basically be out of spite because I want to know how it ends. Congratulations to the author for making me just annoyed enough that I won't stop reading.

Historia
In Jim’s absence, Zorlando has been doing a pretty good job keeping Windfall safe. He doesn’t know - and may not be equipped for - what is heading straight toward Noobtown, though. Will Jim beat the Pirates while he is on Glorious Roberts’ ship? Will he make it back to his beloved city before Maggie, the assassin, gets there? Why are there pirates attempting to sack Windfall? Most importantly, will Shart ever be the opposite of inside out again?

Too Many Inconsistencies
Revisado: 06-30-23
One of the things I struggled with in this book was the inconsistencies. I was led to believe that leveling up was extremely hard for everybody except Jim, yet all of a sudden everybody is level 35 to 45. Many things thought I remembered from past books seem to not be true in this book. The only thing that really saved the book for me, was that Jim is much less of an idiot now. It is more comical than maddening because he at least understands basic human things. I completely understand this book series is based around video games, but the very "convenient" solutions to problems seem more like a writing crutch than part of the story. I found myself losing focus very often. As usual the narrator is amazing. He is a huge part of why this book series is successful.
