Historia
Psychologist Margot Scott has a picture-perfect life: a nice house in the suburbs, a husband, two children and a successful career. On a warm spring morning Margot approaches one of her clients on a busy train platform. He is looking down at his phone, with his duffel bag in hand as the train approaches. We’ll done. Some good twists. The plot summary here on Audible has absolutely nothing to do with the actual story at all.

Can’t tolerate the narrato
Revisado: 02-03-23
I listen to a lot of audio books. This is THE worst narrator I have ever heard or can imagine hearing. It’s terrible. Do not buy this book. I’ll see if I can return it. It sounds like an automated call answering service. I do not believe this is a human.

Historia
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

Completely Unbelievable
Revisado: 09-05-22
So much of this story makes no sense. It’s so unbelievable. The descriptions of his father and brothers as mostly normal people but tolerating this horrific abuse is just not remotely believable. If the abuse is true, his father is a bigger monster than his mother. Instead the father is described as a victim of circumstance, just trying to keep the peace. I’m not buying it.

Great story. Uneven performance
Revisado: 06-08-21
This is a very good, interesting story. Lots of twists and turns with a good ending.
There are two narrators. One is pretty good. The other is pretty bad. Almost bad enough for me to stop listening. But not quite. Glad I finished.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Just a terrible story
Revisado: 05-13-21
It’s like a middle school boys revenge fantasy. The characters have NO depth. The story is absolutely, ridiculously unbelievable. Enlisted military guys are all virtuous, honorable, upstanding people. Everyone else is an evil villain twirling their mustache and plotting how to take advantage of the average Joe.
The performance of the narrator is great. Made it worth finishing.

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Wandering, fragmented, nonsensical
Revisado: 09-18-19
This book was a real grind. Just mysterious enough to make you think it would somehow come together into something worth waiting for. It never does. Each sharp turn has the feeling it will eventually give you something other than an eccentric, mentally unstable film maker pursued by equally unstable and gullible characters. But that’s all there is. There really is no story here.
Terrible book.

Just ridiculous
Revisado: 02-25-19
This story is, well, ridiculous. The main character makes so many dumb choices to keep herself involved in the psychological game being played that you cant help but groan repeatedly. The allegedly brilliant maneuvering of her adversary is really very shallow. The ending... well. It’s just hard to believe.

Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can't move. She can't speak. She can't open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn't remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from 20 years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

It just wasn't my thing. Psychological thriller meets romance novel. And a REALLY sappy romance novel. It's like Scilence of the Lambs took a break to remodel a home and do some really awesome landscaping.
