I enjoyed this book because it speaks from coming from the big city to a little town in both the adult and the child’s voice. Thank you very much for making this one an audiobook.

Historia
In 1997, Daniel Trush, a bright, active, outgoing twelve-year-old, collapsed on the basketball court and fell into a deep coma. Rushed to the hospital, he was found to have five previously undetected aneurysms in his brain. One had burst, causing a massive cerebral hemorrhage. While Daniel remained comatose, the uncontrolled pressure inside his skull caused him to suffer multiple strokes.

Historia
April 1897: A young nanny arrives at Sandringham, ancestral estate of the Duke and Duchess of York. She is excited, exhausted - and about to meet royalty. So begins the unforgettable story of Charlotte Bill, who would care for a generation of royals as their parents never could. Neither Charlotte - LaLa, as her charges dub her - nor anyone else can predict that eldest sons David and Bertie will each one day be king. LaLa knows only that these children, and the four who swiftly follow, need her steadfast loyalty and unconditional affection.

Excellent
Revisado: 06-17-23
I enjoyed learning a bit more of the British Royal line, and the fact that this book has the family member Johnny. “the missing brother”. It is interesting to read about what todays doctors think/read into what the doctors said about Johnny back then, and a possible diagnosis for him, Other mentions of disability and the Royal families in this book, is refreshing,

Historia
As a deafblind woman with partial vision in one eye and bilateral hearing aids, Elsa Sjunneson lives at the crossroads of blindness and sight, hearing and deafness—much to the confusion of the world around her. And she knows how wrong our one-size-fits-all definitions of disability can be. Part memoir, part cultural criticism, part history of the deafblind experience, Being Seen explores how our cultural concept of disability is more myth than fact, and the damage it does to us all.

So true
Revisado: 01-03-22
I loved this book! It brought up so many ableist points that go unheard. For instance most employers need employees with drivers licences, public transportation is not a priority, elevators are not maintained, sometimes handicapped parking is not at good locations, TV is not real life and we are easily “blocked” from attending/denied services. Don’t get me started at the cost of technology specifically for the disabled. This book is awesome!

Historia
Who were the first humans to inhabit North America? According to the now familiar story, mammal hunters entered the continent some 12,000 years ago via a land bridge that spanned the Bering Sea. The presence of these early New World people was established by distinctive stone tools belonging to the Clovis culture. But are the Clovis tools Asian in origin? Drawing from original archaeological analysis, paleoclimatic research, and genetic studies, noted archaeologists Dennis J. Stanford and Bruce A. Bradley challenge the old narrative.

Any additional comments?
It was a great book, but it would have been better to have the illustrations/photographs in front of me. This is why I have it 3 stars as an overall rating. Had nothing to do with the book or narrator.

I found large portions of this book "abridged". I would not get this audio book, but read the whole book instead. The cost is about same same, and worth it.

Historia
Ancient medical science told us our minds and bodies are one. So did philosophers of old. Now modern science and new research are helping us to understand these connections. In Healing and the Mind, Bill Moyers talks with physicians, scientists, therapists, and patients - people who are taking a new look at the meaning of sickness and health.

Does have too many background noises
Revisado: 02-24-11
The voices and background noises do make this book hard to listen to. Didn't learn as much as I was hoping to. I wish I hadn't wasted my money.
