Historia
Tim's plan didn't include going toe to toe with one of the most powerful men in Promethia, but he had, and he won. Wasn't winning supposed to make things easier? Instead of getting to live on easy street, Tim's victory only increased his reputation as a man who could solve problems. This time those problems had teeth. Thankfully Tim hit level 10, and once he settled on his upgraded class their newest adventure could began in earnest.

Be better, authors.
Revisado: 11-03-24
Gratuitous use of base language. Should probably warn those who are not interested in alternative lifestyles about the lesbianism woven into the story.
The story itself is a good one, but I will be discontinuing the series here.

Historia
In this fourth volume, Roland, Eddie, Susannah, and Jake survive Blaine the Mono's final crash, only to find themselves stranded in an alternate version of Topeka, Kansas, one that has been ravaged by the superflu virus. While following the deserted I-70 toward a distant glass palace, Roland recounts a story about a seaside town called Hambry, where he fell in love with a girl named Susan Delgado, and where he and his old tet-mates Alain and Cuthbert battled the forces of John Farson.

Made me quit the series
Revisado: 07-29-24
Mr King wades into ick. Strange: I like. Suspenseful: EVERYONE likes. Scary: I like. Parts of this book were distasteful and needlessly "icky." I didn't pick up a King novel/series to read/hear bodice-ripping romance or detailed accounts of bodily functions.
I liked the series up to here, but I won't be finishing. Disappointed

Historia
Paleontology professor Logan Ford thought he found a fresh start when he purchased a sixty-seven-acre ranch in the badlands of Montana. Drummed out of academia for his faith-driven principles and acceptance of creationism, Ford just wants to be left alone to dig in the fossil-rich dirt at his new property. Excavating dinosaur bones gives him an unquenchable purpose and lasting contentment. Unfortunately, his past refuses to let go. A former colleague at the university is hellbent on destroying him. Professor Julian Blade has always been envious of Ford’s life and even led the charge in ...

Good Stories Should Be More Polished
Revisado: 05-28-24
I liked the story itself. The information about the Nephilim was imparted with interest through the story.
The Virtual Voice reader was sometimes agonizingly inaccurate. Job (the Old Testament character & book) is NOT pronounced like the thing you do to make money. Some of the word choice errors were made by the author. I would guess the author didn't have an editor to check for word choice and continuity errors.
Still, the story was a good one even if the finished product was a bit unpolished.

Historia
America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

A Boy and his Dad
Revisado: 11-06-23
This story is NOT about a post-apocalyptic adventure as much as it is about a father's love and care for his son.
The road is life.
MY dad is nearing the end of his journey and this story touched me like few others.
It plods along in places and there are moments of tension. "Papa" guides his boy through all the dangers.
I didn't love it until I recognized it for the allegory it was.

Historia
Nurse Mercy Lynch is elbows deep in bloody laundry at a war hospital in Richmond, Virginia, when Clara Barton comes bearing bad news: Mercy's husband has died in a POW camp. On top of that, a telegram from the west coast declares that her estranged father is gravely injured, and he wishes to see her. Mercy sets out toward the Mississippi River. Once there, she'll catch a train over the Rockies and—if the telegram can be believed—be greeted in Washington Territory by the sheriff, who will take her to see her father in Seattle.

From Short Story to Novel
Revisado: 05-09-23
I read one of Cherie. Priest's short stories (Tanglefoot) and loved it... so when I saw a novel by her here, I had to give it a go.
Try anything she writes. If you like steampunk, you won't be sorry.

Historia
In the early days of the Civil War, rumors of gold in the frozen Klondike brought hordes of newcomers to the Pacific Northwest. Anxious to compete, Russian prospectors commissioned inventor Leviticus Blue to create a great machine that could mine through Alaska’s ice. Thus was Dr. Blue’s Incredible Bone-Shaking Drill Engine born.

Steampunk America
Revisado: 04-26-23
This is the first novel I've read by Cherie Priest. I read one of her short stories and liked it, so when I saw this title, I gave it a shot
The characters are well-developed. The science is interesting without being too heavy.
There's a twist at the end...
I'm going to continue the series.

All I wanted to do was have some R&R from my time in space with the Marine Corps. My tour was done, my days fighting bad guys over once and for all. Or so I thought. But damn was I wrong. So f--king wrong. Imagine being told you're going to be responsible for bringing a child into the world, one who would have the power to change it all, to once and for all fight off the evil forces threatening to enslave our galaxy and that of the supers who brought the message.

Disappointed
Revisado: 10-21-22
Straight from Literotica... except I didn't know that's what I was getting. The story would be good even with the sex incorporated. But it feels so crass. It's unrefined. I'm considering quittting this read... I'll probably go a little more before I decide... I hate to quit a story.

Like Rainbow Six
Revisado: 07-15-22
The story of James Reece continued in this story reads much like Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (one of my favorites).
As Reece continues with each mission he inevitably is motivated by some circumstance (no spoilers) to continue on to the next mission, surgically removing the cancerous parts of society who prey on humanity using political and economic power.
In this mission, like Rainbow Six, the operators must thwart a WMD and track down those responsible.

Move over Robert Jordan and JRR Tolkien

This epic tale rivals the Wheel of Time and The Fellowship of the Rings for its character development, it's depth of plot and its complex and unique magic. If you liked those, you'll enjoy this story as well.
