The whole right sizing of power without cables and grids is super exiting. Combining that with vehicles and transport is truly exiting.

What did you love best about The Girl in the Spider's Web?

The characters are back - I loved the original Stieg Larson books and even though this is not totally Stieg, it is believable enough after a few pages. Sure by the next book we will all be perfectly happy that the characters prove strong enough to carry on.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Need you ask!! She is of a different order.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is good.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, No, Yes?, impossible to waist time with Mr Jo, but this is not Nesbo at his best. Good, but not good enough for one of my favourite characters.

What about Sean Barrett’s performance did you like?

I have to confess, that I am a total Sean Barrett fan boy. The best part of this book is the dulcet tones of Barrett. I defy anyone not to be mesmerised by his delivery. One of the few readers that draws and captures my attention throughout. I am sure that Sean Barrett can read the yellow pages and I will be on the edge of my seat. To be honest, he might just have almost done that in narrating this book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. Why spoil a good book by cheapening it into a movie. Film retards the imagination. More meat between the ears, than between the eyes.

Any additional comments?

Open letter to Mr. Nesbo. Take some time off, tell your publisher to lay off you. Take your time, drink some whiskey, play in your band, ski along a Fjord. Get yourself back to peak and then blow our pip with the next Harry episode. We love you and your work, and this was not your best effort.

Would you consider the audio edition of Paris to be better than the print version?

Listening is so much more experiential, the voice, like a an instrument adds emotion and nuance to the writer.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

One does not read Edward Rutherfurd for the plot and story. The narrative is purely a backdrop or a canvas to explore the city and to 'experience' its historic life. The actual story is, in true Rutherfurd tradition, slightly weak and contrived. Don't get me wrong, it is much less painful than anything by Dan Brown, but the narrative is a vehicle not the end. Therefore the end of the book could be anything, since the real end of the book is going to be your travel agent.

What about Jane Wymark and Jonathan Keeble ’s performance did you like?

The two J's do justice to the story and help to delineate the forward-backward jumps in centuries. Jonathan can really make con you to believe it is a woman talking without any obvious falsetto trick. True craft.

If you could take any character from Paris out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would have liked to win that lucky draw, not for the obvious, but for the other.

Any additional comments?

A good, albeit weak yarn, on a magnificent backdrop.

What did you love best about Nothing to Lose?

Closed, stifling, suspicious? Jack can punch all the way to freedom.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nothing to Lose?

Early on Jack enters the town and orders a beer, the locals give him the evil eye, and Jack responds like Jack does. Stereo and deluxe.

What about Jeff Harding’s performance did you like?

Jeff gets Reacher, awkward, elusive, charismatic, blunt. Believe, I tell you, believe!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Come on this is Jack Reacher, if you get moved by fiction, this is not your genre. You get a kick! Plenty of those in this novel, each as purging as dry figs.

Would you listen to A Wanted Man again? Why?

In probably, the most complicated Lee Child logic to follow, Jack inadvertently falls down the rabbit hole into explosive drama.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

This is the weirdest Jack plot, and some of the others are weird enough.

What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jeff is the Reacher maker. Good man, good fellow and kind to puppies - I'm sure.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Reacher in a hitch!

If you could sum up The Affair in three words, what would they be?

Fearless, violent, right.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As a non-American, who loves America, the covering up Washington scandal riddled politician is the stuff of legacy. Jack and the district tortured beauty, sorts out all sorts of political malignancies. The fun is, it is not done with diplomacy, but something a lot more primordial.

Which scene was your favorite?

The local brainless duo walks up to Reacher in a tone of dissonance, Guess the outcome? I was playing air-vigilanty while listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Too true. Dishes not washed, owner unhappy.

What did you love best about Worth Dying For?

What is not to love about Jack Reacher? In the vein of our comic need for a super hero, Jack Reacher kicks all the tochas that needs kicking, somehow managing to lay to rest the cruelty of another modern day injustice. Scant regard for judice prudence and a strong regard for street justice, country bumpkin villains are sorely sorted. The obligatory, slightly confused, lass under strain, is the love interest. The underlying issues is worthy of a moral pulpit. The destruction of baddies epic. The Cathartic purge and fiction of simple and uncomplicated comeuppance mesmerising. So, what is not to love about Jack Reacher? What is not to love about Lee Child, after all he hails from Coventry!

What did you like best about this story?

Jack Reacher is simple, Sherlock your way to the heart of a wrong, beat, kill or punish the perpetrator, tryst the local beauty and hitchhike into the sunset. In this novel, inbred hillbillies get their but kicked. What more could one want?

What about Jeff Harding’s performance did you like?

Mr Harding is brilliant, dulcet drawling American accent adds to this non-American the perfect tone for Jack.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yup.

What made the experience of listening to Bad Luck and Trouble the most enjoyable?

The story is nonsense, but don't let that put you off, Lee Child sells you all of this ridiculousness to the point that you will take a bullet for it. You will probably not want to talk about it in two weeks time down at the pub, but you will buy the next Jack Reacher audiobook from Audible. Jack is an enigma, the improbability of your primordial genetic code. What is not to love with touching your reptilian brain with so much relish? I love the fact that it is such nonsense - so loveable and so enjoyable. Perfect fiction and escape.

What did you like best about this story?

It Jack, he's back and he's got mates. Baddies fear and tremble!

Which scene was your favorite?

The first scene, no, correction the last scene.... Hum, in reconsideration the middle bit.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved me? What kind of question is this for a Jack Reacher novel? It does not move, it kicks your butt.

Galeano wants his continent back, and listening to his arguments, who can blame him. This book illustrates some of the deceptive exploitation of the first world towards latin America. The only pity is that the book is dated, I would love to get an update. Get this book, it will certainly make you think!
