I really enjoyed this book and the characters. 4 stars as I thought the ending was very flat and so many open questions still that made throughout the book.

I loved this book overall. The pacing, tone, the descriptions, the characters and the narration. It was interesting to see this side of the war and what women saw and went through and their own aftermaths. I enjoyed following each of the three unique characters. A few times something would feel a little cliche, especially Lucy's 360 on love. But I can forgive it as it wrapped nicely and poetically at the end. I'm sure some women didn't have such happy endings but these three women still had demons they fought. Women have always been strong but sometimes society missed it and this was a great example of women being brave during a dangerous and scary time.

Enjoyed the audiobook

I love listening to Kate Rudd. She brings all the characters to life and makes it easy to follow. The story was different for my taste but enjoyable and well paced. It was hard to really find any characters to like but being the pov of the killer made up for it and following along as she changed.

Overall I enjoyed this book, the story, the characters, and the pace. It was a little predictable but for a love story it worked. I would like to listen to the next books in the series, hoping the author deletes a lot of "nods" though in those ones.

Really liked this book

Overall I really liked this book. I enjoyed the story, the characters, the pace. My one caveat was that I listened to the Audible and the narrator was just a tad too quick and I could hear him take his breaths. Not sure if this was just him or the production. I still give it 5 stars as I was immersed in the story.

I absolutely loved this book. The characters, the story, the writing and the narrator. One of my favorite audio books so far. Will definitely be following this author and narrator for future books.

Good idea, but a little slow

I like this author and I like the simplicity of her writing. This book started off with a really good idea but it was too long and the story was slow. None of the characters stood out to me.

Great story but not well executed

I really liked the story and the idea. Narrator was great. But I could not get over the weak main character. She was not very likeabke. She was very slow to figure things out (like dumb) and wined repeatedly about the same things. If she was really supposed to save the world, then we would be doomed. She was doing her laundry the last day???? Priorities.... Ugh I really wanted to like it but I won't be reading the next ones.

Really liked the female storyline

This was a good balanced book. The women were all strong and unique characters. The story moved at a decent pace and kept me interested, even though I'm not usually interested in this time period. My only pet peeve matched others in the reviews for the audiobook....everyone except the main character sounded old. This kinda takes you out of your imagination but you kinda learn to just deal with it.

I've been listening to a lot of audio books recently and this one has been one of my favs. Great pacing for this story. Characters felt unique, story kept moving and I was interested in the story.
