Historia
From USA Today Bestselling Author, Uvi Poznansky, comes a captivating historical fiction novel with a modern twist: Here is the story of David as you have never heard it before: from the king himself, telling the unofficial version, the one he never allowed his court scribes to recount. Rooted in ancient lore, his is a surprisingly modern memoir. Notorious for his contradictions, David is seen by others as a gifted court entertainer, a successful captain in Saul’s army, a cunning fugitive, a traitor leading a gang of felons, and a ruthless raider of neighboring towns who leaves no ...

BRILLIANTLY TOLD STORY
Revisado: 03-07-25
Ms. Poznansky’s novel Rise to Power, swept me into David’s battle from a shepherd boy more interested in adventure, music, & performing, into a battle hardened man. When he played at the palace of King Saul, he was both loved and hated by the King, for in him, Saul saw himself as a young man, & knew his own frailty. David could sense both the love and the hate in Saul, and yet, found he yearned for glory.
It is a story of battle, madness, glory, and mastery over self.
It is David’s story, yet, more, it is the story of each of those who ache for dreams to come true, and sense the changes to come as they age. Ms. Poznansky has taken an old story, lifted it into a new realm of an honesty and understanding of human fragility. I loved the flow of her words, and the way they drew me into the story deeper and deeper. Sometimes I was living in David’s thoughts, and sometimes watching him as he went from a boy full of gaiety to a hardened man, but one that still had some compassion in him.
As a lover of history, the use of more modern language to tell the story, was fitting, for each generation does tell a story in the language of the times. I loved this novel, and how the characters drew me into their lives, and took on very real human characteristics. As the story unfolded one could see and feel it as if you were living in the days when the twelve tribes were scattered, and fought each other for supremacy, and the Philistines waited in the wings to ravage them.
It is a vividly written novel, that will stay with me for a long time, and I will look back to see my how my younger self, created the woman I am today, as David and Saul did. Did they like what they saw or was the glory not enough?
A brilliantly told story.

Revisado: 01-31-25
I was gifted the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I loved the book so much that I had to buy the kindle version. If I could get a signed copy of the paperback, I’d buy that too.
Mr. Hollis, does an incredible job of bringing this story to life. It made me wonder if, in fact, it wasn’t a true story. That being said, the characters were believable, the plot dramatic, filled with suspense, and it kept me enthralled from the first words to the last page.
The haunting of a ghost child gave an element of truth, for I’d imagine that someone in Docs position would be held by the image of this child.
As a spy thriller, I’d put it up with the best writers of our time, and better than many well-known authors.
The action is unyielding, there is blood and violence at every turn, as they race to discover the fanatic’s target and prevent a catastrophic disaster.
The protagonist has both strength, resolve, and a gentleness that makes him more real.
After reading Mr. Hollis’ book The Hollow Man, I found myself wondering if I’d be up to the task, if it were me. It was a thrilling ride, and a book that I will hold dear.
I truly loved this story, and I will be rereading it over the years.
The narrator is superb and pulls you into the story too.

STUNNINGLY TOLD STORY THAT WILL GRIP YOU.
Revisado: 12-10-24
I first read Ms. Poznznsky’s, COMA Confidential as an ebook, is brilliantly written.
I was gifted the audio edition in exchange for an honest review. The Narration was smooth, the voice held all the emotions that you would expect from a patient in a coma, who can think, hear, but not see, touch, or talk, is a daunting task. Yet to bring her to life, with all that one might expect someone who is in a coma to experience, is beyond extraordinary. This book is masterfully told, with an eye for not only detail, but filled with trauma, suspense, and terror.
There is a beauty in the way Ms. Poznznsky can make the words flow across the page. They draw you deeper and deeper into the story until you feel as if you, too, were lying in that bed, as the memories flow back into you. And when Ash finally feels herself move, only to understand that the true terror is yet to come for her, fills one with the need to turn the pages faster.
The sheer suspense and horror that Coma draws you into is stunning, and could only be written by someone who has the ability to find empathy and courage to tell it. Although, to date, I have loved every book that I’ve read by Ms. Poznznsky; I picked this up with apprehension. How can anyone tell a story from the perspective of a coma victim? Yet, this book is powerful. The story is astounding, and great. I am so glad I read it and look forward to the next book. You will not be disappointed if you listen to this audio book.
I highly recommend the audio edition.

A THRILLING NARRATION OF A SUSPENSEFILLED BOOK
Revisado: 01-29-22
Ms. Goss takes the Gwynn Resnick series five steps higher in Cisco Bandits. It was/is a book that is a thrill a minute, leaving you guessing from the beginning to the last page just who, what, and why so many people were dying (supposedly) by accident.
I adore the characters and Natalie D really brings them to life. Each one is fully formed, and you feel as if you’d love to know some of them, and yes, work for Ruben, except of course that danger is usually best read about.
The twists and turns of the plot keep you reading far into the night. I even had to plug my kindle in to finish listening, as I couldn’t put it down and the book was way to engrossing to stop for the night.
Ms. Goss has a rare talent for pulling the reader into the story and making it so real you feel as if you are there.
Natalie D’s narration is perfect. Gwyn sounded exactly like I expected her to, and it was easy to differentiate the players. Her voice is smooth yet brings the thrilling moments to life. A wonderful addition to my audio library.

LOVED THIS BOOK
Revisado: 11-02-19
Karen Vaughan has once again given us a dynamite murder mystery in book two of her Laura & Gerry Murder Mystery series.
Take one trashy, gold-digger, psychotic woman, with a mob boss for a daddy, and a jealous streak that would make any normally insane woman look like a saint. Throw in flying melons, baseball bats, and a sweet, gentle, rich elderly man, and Laura (corpse magnet) soon to be Fitz, and you have a masterpiece of crime, insanity, murder, and yes romance.
It takes a lot to write a great murder mystery, but even more one with humor wrapped into the package.
Kudos to Ms. Vaughan for once again giving us a class act book to blow away the cobwebs from our minds and entertain us while doing so.
And Skyler Rankin did an outstanding job.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this read.

I Could Not Put it Down
Revisado: 09-19-19
First I’d like to say, this is my very first Zombie book. I am a fan of dystopian fiction, fantasy, mysteries, science fiction, to name a few. But, Viral Dawn by Skyler Rankin completely swept me away.
From page one till the end, I was enthralled. It is exceptionally well written, well researched and I could imagine myself as a young high school student fighting for my life under these circumstances.
Ms. Rankin made me think of so many what if’s while I listened to this book. What if some of the government studies were meant to build some kind of military master race and went bad, releasing a potent chemical that infected people.
What if a part of the experiment was designed to get cells to regenerate?
As I was swept into the horror of not only the attempt to survive being eaten or killed by a zombie but to become one, it felt real to me. I was living in this book.
Like the main character Casey I worried that in the so-called safe zone, the research for a cure was something more sinister.
This is a book that will draw you into a world and keep you captive in it past the end. You will not want it to end, and you will become impatient for the sequel.
There are just enough gore and zombie mobs for those who love zombies, but it is also a book that you will adore even if you are not (like me a zombie fan.)
The narrator Elizabeth Lee did a fabulous job of portraying a smart, streetwise, high school student and kept you captivated throughout the book.

A STUNNING PERFORMANCE FOR A GREAT READ
Revisado: 08-07-19
DEAD ON ARRIVAL – Book 1 of the Laura & Gerry Mystery Series by Karen Vaughan had me completely enthralled from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down. What does a girl do when she finds the dead body of her creepy ex-boss on her living room floor? In Laura’s case, she uses great sarcastic humor, coupled with the ability to put two and two together, and maintain a presence of self even in the moments she falls apart.
I couldn’t help myself from interrupting my husband to read him a quip here or there, and I couldn’t put the book down until the last page was read and still, I hated for it to end.
There is nothing like a Laura and Gerry Mystery to keep you laughing at Laura’s sarcastic quips, and still manage to keep you on your toes with the suspense of the story. And to top it off there is just enough romance for those of us that love a bit of that in a story.
Ms. Vaughan’s talent for telling a thrilling, murder mystery with a splash of romance and sarcastic humor is rare and wonderful. At no time in the story was I able to guess whodunit, even as the bodies piled up.
I both read this book and listened to the audio version as well. Skyler Rankin’s narration kept me engrossed from start to finish, even though at the time of listening to it who the culprits were. Ms. Rankin was a perfect fit for the telling of this story, and each and every character was portrayed exactly as I imagined that they would sound.
