Historia
“Oh, those aren't ordinary goggles, miss! There's nothing ordinary about them,” claimed the seller. “Those are special. Very special. You might not believe me, but... those goggles will let you see ghosts.” Goggles that let you see ghosts? It's an obvious scam, but the (usually) intellectual Augusta Hodge succumbs to it. Why? She desperately wants to see her deceased father again. Shortly after her father's death, Augusta accepts a job as a governess. She never wanted to be a governess, but as a penniless spinster, her options are limited. Her new employer is a difficult man, but ...

Short and concise

This narration surprised me a lot. It feels like a summary of a longer novel. However, all the elements are there. It is perfect for when you want to listen to something while waiting at the airport

Entertaining but not memorable
Revisado: 01-17-25
It was a plain book, entertaining while cleaning or doing another activity but not a book that I will remember at all.
It didn’t have twists or unexpected things, just a continuation of events.

Historia
Annaleigh lives a sheltered life at Highmoor with her sisters and their father and stepmother. Once there were 12, but loneliness fills the grand halls now that four of the girls' lives have been cut short. Disturbed by a series of ghostly visions, Annaleigh becomes increasingly suspicious that her sister's deaths were no accidents. The girls have been sneaking out every night to attend glittering balls, dancing until dawn in silk gowns and shimmering slippers, and Annaleigh isn't sure whether to try to stop them or to join their forbidden trysts.

Amazing second half
Revisado: 10-06-24
Although the first 5hs felt slow for me, the second half of the book was extremely enjoyable. Full of twists, turns and impossible to stop listening to.
