Earth's Diaspora is well underway and the colonies are flourishing. There are Dynasties of The Accord, however, that resent Earth's expansion. Charli Morgan and Lucca Spelini each lead their respective teams from colony to colony, preventing interference and keeping the peace. Standing up to the Dynasties is one thing, but what happens when Lower Houses of The Accord start butting in?

Greed, terrorism, and simple bad luck conspire to bring mankind to its knees as a viral infection spreads out of control, reducing those infected to undead horrors that feed upon the rest. September 10, 2001. Special Forces Major Kyle Mason is honeymooning at New York’s SoHo Grand Hotel with his bride, Padma Mahajan. The couple’s hotel is only a few hundred yards away from Padma’s place of work on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. When Padma steps out for coffee and a cigarette, a mysterious visitor enters the honeymoon suite, warning Kyle of an incomprehensible catastrophe that will result in the total destruction of the World Trade Center towers, killing his wife.

Matt, Jamie, and Judy have made it through the first days of the virus. But that doesn't mean anything when it comes to long-term survival. Society has collapsed, and there's no indication that it's coming back online anytime soon. In the meantime, elements of violence and chaos rise up, threatening everyone. Jamie's cousin has property up north, near Santa Fe. If they can get there, they might be safer. The only problem? There's only road there, with nothing but the high desert stretching out on either side.
