Historia
Colin Salmon and Stephen Fry star in this brand new adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Sherlock Holmes adventure, The Hound of the Baskervilles, reinterpreted as a dark folk horror by best-selling authors George Mann and Cavan Scott. An ancient curse has awoken on Dartmoor, the members of the Baskerville family hunted by a spectral hound of Hell. With Sherlock Holmes busy in London, Doctor John Watson is sent to protect the new lord of the manor as fear and superstition run wild in the ancient countryside.

Fry & Salmon -Superb!
Revisado: 03-15-24
2 of the best for voicing Holmes and Watson! I've previously enjoyed this story by initially reading and then listening (via audible - 1 narrator), but this multi-cast version is my favorite by far. I will probably listen to this again in the future.

While running in Central Park, New York Times science writer Damon Ellis crashes—literally—into a story that just might resurrect his career…and change the course of human history. On the face of it, it seems absurd—a small biotech company in Boston called Calypso that claims to have cracked the secret of eternal youth. Surely a hoax. Or is it?

Good for a Podcast Format

Narrators A+. The story itself was interesting but had some major questionable/ nonsensical moments. As a podcast, it still held my attention enough to want to complete all episodes. Bottom line...I'm glad I listened, no regrets.

Could not finish this one!
Revisado: 12-09-22
Just couldn't finish so in fairness can't properly judge the storyline. While I had gotten used to Ms Rayner's narration and didn't have a major problem before, the whiny high-pitched voices that grated on my nerves seemed to be quite plentiful in this one.

Couldn't Finish - Even as Background Noise!
Revisado: 09-26-22
Just couldn't finish this one - even as background noise at work!
It's a Paris walking tour guide that's just too distracting from any story there might be. Natalie (not Mr Monk) with her miserableness and french everything (for someone who earned a 'C' in school) just got way too annoying. I enjoyed the previous 6 Mr Monk books so I will just skip this and move on to Book 8 of the available selection on Audible.

Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

Conflicted on Star Rating to Give
Revisado: 08-15-22
On one hand, the cast and execution/ performance rating (IMO of course) is 5+ stars. On the other and like so many others have pointed out, the story itself had so many 'what?' type moments. I realize this is fiction but still SMH moments, especially with The Lord's Prayer (read reviews by others for some specifics but be advised may have spoilers).
Also, while I don't want to provide spoilers, I still have to mention that it seems like the endings specific skin color declaration is where the story idea began with the creator, and they just threw some things together to make it work... but perhaps a bit too quickly.
So, even after that critique, I still enjoyed it. The performances and production won out.

3 out of 5 overall - Not Great but Not Bad Either
Revisado: 05-19-22
It was fine if you're just looking for a short listen.
Ending fell flat for me. It was as if someone told the authors, "time's up" and they just needed to quickly get to the ending. Felt it was good but could have been so much better.

Historia
Bo Tully is the sheriff of Blight County, Idaho, where law enforcement is usually pretty mundane: tracking down truants running away from school, picking up country boys who've had a few too many beers. But Tully gets a little more than the country norm when an ex-con calls with the startling news that there's a corpse draped across one of his fences.

Volume a Problem - Narrator or Editor/ Producer?
Revisado: 05-19-22
It's an audiobook with a problem with the audio. I'm unsure if the narrator does this or recorded in multiple sessions and mixed together...quite badly. If it was multiple sessions, I wish the producer/ editor would have made the proper adjustments.
I can't really speak for the story itself, as I didn't finish the title. I just couldn't/ didn't want to keep adjusting the volume. Didn't work as background at work, in the car or even at home.
My impression was that general narration and Sheriff Bo's inner monologue was done in one session at one volume level... low. The other character voices, when speaking to Bo or other characters are much louder. So, when you have it set at a comfortable listening level for the general narration, it then seems as if all other characters are shouting. Vice versa as well in that if you turn it down to a comfortable level as soon as that occurs, when the narrator goes back to Bo's inner monologue, you can't hear it.

Narration- Narration- Narration.. Made the Story!
Revisado: 05-12-22
The story started off as good and a little interesting but indeed (as others have mentioned) a lot of stereotyping. Because of this, my knee jerk reaction was to be a bit meh... wondering if it was going to be another 'same old' story and if I should just move on. Glad I didn't! The narrators really made this audiobook entertaining and interesting to me. If this would have just had 1 'flat' narrator or perhaps if it were an actual physical book that I would have read on my own, I doubt I would have finished. That would have been a shame as it was indeed a FUN listen! The narrators ALL did a great 'job' with the voices and bringing the characters to life. They 'made' the story/ audiobook!

Historia
Agatha has fallen head over heels in love - again. This time, she has her eye on the local gardener, George Marston, but so do other women in their little Cotswold village. Shamelessly determined, Agatha will do anything to get her man - including footing the bill for a charity ball just for the chance to dance with him. And then George doesn't even show up. Only partly deterred, Agatha goes looking for him, and finds his dead body in a compost heap. Murder is definitely afoot, but this killer chose no ordinary weapon: A poisonous snake delivered the fatal strike.

Couldn't Focus on Story - Disappointing Narrator
Revisado: 01-31-22
The voice used for Agatha is almost grating. It reminded me of the old evil witch in the Wizard of Oz... "I'm going to get you my pretty"... only older and more miserable. Then there's times where the voices are a bit mixed up.
I did get used to the previous narrator of most of series so far (Penelope K), but I truly thought if I gave it a chance, I could get used to it. NOT the case and know I will definitely skip any others in this series that use this narrator. I'm sure she's a great choice for another series but not as Agatha. The particular voice she uses for her is just horrid (IMO of course).
Just couldn't focus on the story itself and became aware early on, I didn't care if I missed sections or didn't finish at all... which I didn't. Just disappointed.

Story itself was fun but narrator...not so much
Revisado: 09-15-21
I enjoyed the story but at times I debated about stopping it just due to the narrator. Ugh!
The voice/ accent he used for the main character (Flynn) was great but the other 2 major characters on Flynn's escapade were a man and woman who both sounded the same. He made them sound a bit duh-huh, yet with the intensity of a child that is so excited to tell you a story but also has to pee at the same time. Like that hyper - did you see me, did you see me, did you see me that a child will ask after doing something outside (but w/ a duh-huh forced breath). Hard to explain except - bad. If those voices would've been included in the sample I listened to, I wouldn't have even added it to my library.
IMO the book would have been better as a paperback I read myself as opposed to an Audible listen... or of course, a different narrator. I'm glad this was a free listen because the narrator definitely ruined it and as he is narrating the second, I will not be spending a credit to get that one, no matter how good the story line is.
