Excellent introduction to Japanese
Revisado: 01-03-21
This audiobook is exactly as promised. It is a great overview of the basics of Japanese for those interested in the most important words and phrases needed for basic communication. It offers cultural notes along with the words and phases so listeners can understand the context of the key phrases. This audiobook also offers an accompanying PDF for those who would like visual support in studying.
The structure of the book was very clear and well paced. The narration was well done. The narrator’s voice is natural and easily understood.
Overall this is an excellent introduction to Japanese phrases and words for a casual traveler, covering basic situations a traveler may come across. As advertised, this is not a deep-dive into the language, more complex situations or grammar of Japanese. It does offer, however, suggestions to further your studies of Japanese beyond this book.

But Your Mother Loves You helps listeners overcome this cycle. Interesting but not a “how-to”
Revisado: 12-21-19
Overall, I enjoyed listening. The narration was good and the general story and pacing were well presented. This book would have been better subtitled “How I Overcame the Cycle of Toxic Love...” because while some of the ideas presented are universal, this was very much one woman’s unique story. There were some great passages and take-aways. Though it was not what I expected, in that it wasn’t a more obvious “how-to” I would recommend listening because it does offer a well read, compelling story of a women figuring out her place and purpose in life.

Listen for a laugh
Revisado: 12-21-19
This was an enjoyable audiobook. It was entertaining and while I wasn’t laughing uproariously out loud, I definitely had a few chuckles and was smiling at parts of the story. The pacing was comfortable. It was like listening to a funny friend tell a story.

Charming children’s story
Revisado: 09-19-19
This is a whimsical story that will be especially amusing for fans of Oz. It is entertaining and easy to follow without having read the original books of Oz though fans of Oz will meet up again with some of their favorite characters.
The narration is great. The reading is engaging but not too exciting that it couldn’t be used as a bedtime story. The pacing of the story is excellent. There is a lot of whimsy and adventure. I recommend this book for those who enjoy a fun story and those who would like to revisit the fairy country of Oz.

Exactly as promised
Revisado: 08-28-19
This audiobook is a wonderful collection of facts and trivia about Ireland. It is well paced with enough information to feel knowledgeable of a subject without spending too much time on one topic. I liked how the book was broken up into categories and each section ended with a quiz. The narration was excellent. Scott Miller‘s reading bordered on “game show host” in a charming way and added to the trivia- vibe of the book.
I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys learning general facts and anyone interested in Ireland. It’s a fun book that is entertaining enough to be listened to in one go but easy enough to stop and come back to for small doses of “did you know...”

Excellent for road trips with kids!
Revisado: 08-01-19
This collection includes classic stories of varying lengths. They are entertaining for adults, not too over-the-top cute but also not too violent or graphic for kids. For example, in the story of Cinderella, the stepsister is told to cut off her toe to try to fit the glass slipper. It’s not described by any means.
This would be great for family road trips or at bedtime. My family is happy to have this added to our collection.

Excellent book and narration
Revisado: 07-14-19
This book is excellent and while targeted to women, contains many transferable life-lesson messages for any sex.
It is told in a warm, friendly, entertaining manner, inter-spliced with the tough love. Read by the author, the tone was pleasantly conversational and rousing, when the message called for it. I laughed out loud. I book marked several spots for quick reference.
An excellent book that I highly recommend.

Until five years ago, Alexandra Heminsley was decidedly not a runner. Nor was she athletic in any sense of the word. She was an ordinary, curvy woman who was convinced that sports of any kind, especially running, were beyond her. But she's made running part of her life, and gets to reap the rewards: not just the obvious things, like a touch of weight loss, health and glowing skin, but self-belief, and immeasurable daily pleasure.

Not really a running book
Revisado: 07-14-19
I chose this book under the suggestion of other “women runners”. It was a good story but not really a book about running. It dealt more with this women’s fears, such as getting fitted for proper shoes, than actual training or running inspiration.
The story and narration are good enough. I would classify this book as a snapshot of a women’s life, a women who happens to run, than a story about running.
