Historia
In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platforms that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate. In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened.

Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

I get what the author is trying to do but I just didn't feek gripped by the story
Revisado: 05-23-24
it's well written and certainly tense in parts but I just struggled to get in to the book and behind the characters. to me the ending feels a little rushed after a long winding tale.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

just romance novel, lacks depth
Revisado: 03-07-24
Don't get me wrong, it's fantastically written the way describes the events. literally feel like you will be there. but the storyline has some gaping plot holes and it goes on and on and on and on and on about The relationships. I was expecting something a bit. grittier and the storyline has a lot lacking, you're left with more questions than answers.
The performance is very good as well to be fair, but I found this a very hot read. I only kept myself coming back to try and hear the rest of the story which ended up not existing

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Characters are somewhat interesting but the storyline just ambles on.... maybe it gets better but I think 3 hours of listening is enough for me not to feel guilty leaving a mediocre review.

I really enjoyed this one, the story jumps around and always keeps you guessing, it's less murder mystery than some.of his books but there's a lot to keep you entertained.

interesting concept but not his best work
Revisado: 09-12-23
it just felt unexplained and not explored in much depth, what are the powers all about? what are they meant to symbolize?.... lots of stuff left unanswered and it's not a particularly believable character line... he also seems to shoe in brand references and I don't know if there was much thought out around the story line.
love the whole ender series and the Bean series also but this wasn't a good addition to his works IMO.
