I wanted something to listen to while I sipped my coffee and ate my breakfast for a few minutes. Did a search for morning meditation and this came up. It was PERFECT! Soft yet motivating vibes. Lovely.

Historia
With a rare mix of honesty, humor, and compassion, comedian and movie star Russell Brand mines his own wild story and shares the advice and wisdom he has gained through his 14 years of recovery. Brand speaks to those suffering along the full spectrum of addiction - from drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and sugar addictions to addictions to work, stress, bad relationships, digital media, and fame. Brand understands that addiction can take many shapes and sizes and how the process of staying clean, sane, and unhooked is a daily activity.

29 years sober and this still taught me lots!
Revisado: 12-30-20
I got sober from alcohol at 19 with the help of a friend who previously did AA. I, however, never attended. I personally cannot continue to rehash my addictive behaviors without wanting to fall back into them so AA meetings and group therapy are not for me. I’m very introspective though and still struggled with addictions like cigarettes and continue to struggle with food and social media so I gave this book a shot in hopes of changing my thinking. There are some true gems in here, and though the f word flies around like debris in a hurricane, I still found myself saying out loud “F*ck yeah, Russell!” or “That’s so true!!” Wish there was a workbook so I might sit down and answer the questions (I know I won’t go to the website). Though there’s a lot of talk of a higher power, I adored all the options given as the definition of that. I personally settled on nature, I believe! Thanks so much, Russell, for a no nonsense mind shift! We share sobriety birthdays btw! If you’re struggling with addiction, listen, answer the questions, do the work and don’t hang out with the same people anymore!

Historia
In Search Of Black History with Bonnie Greer brings you face-to-face with the people you never knew existed. People whose stories tell us a different tale about who we all are. From the earliest glimmerings of modern humanity, up to the present day, Bonnie Greer uncovers the lives of people of African descent that don't fit with the accepted history of Western Civilisation we've traditionally been taught. From saints, to philosophers, to warrior women and king's heralds - these people's lives have been lost, hidden and distorted down the centuries. We've lost the full richness and complexity of our shared histories - it's time to fill in the gaps.

A Wonderful History
Revisado: 07-14-20
I learned so much and want to know more about some of the people discussed. Loved that it showed good and some bad, basically that people are complex and we don’t always know motives for either good or bad behavior. Engaging performance, completely enthralling. I listened to it all in one day! As a white woman who can definitely improve her understanding of Black History, I felt proud of the WOMEN in this book and inspired by them! I look forward to learning more as more is discovered.

It’s so hard to surprise us readers. We’ve read and watched so much that it’s hard to come up with a plot twist that we don’t see coming. I completely enjoyed everything about this book. The narration was perfect! Highly recommend it!!

Don’t ignore the narration reviews! It’s so bad!!
Revisado: 01-06-20
I love Dr. Greger’s message and wanted to listen to ALL of the research. However, I absolutely cannot do any more of this book (I’m about 6 hours in at 1.25 speed) due to the sing-song nature of the narration. It’s beyond distracting; it’s unlistenable, teeth-grating and annoying. The facts I want to retain leave my brain instantly due to the aggravation factor. I ignored the MULTIPLE reviews regarding how bad the narration was thinking I’ll be able to deal with it. No, just, no. It’s worse than you think. I believe somehow this must be some kind of blind research to see who will listen for how long before calling it quits. Well, I quit! And I’ll be returning this book, something I rarely do. I beg Dr. Greger and the publishers to re-record this extremely VALUABLE INFORMATION so that all of us can listen and spread the word on how to stop eating CRAP!

An absolute delight!
Revisado: 12-16-19
I’m an adult who chose this as one of two of my monthly Audible Original choices. In a bit a of a Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew fashion, this book was delightful. Although I’m not from New Orleans, I am from Louisiana and the accents and narration were great! This shouldn’t be a surprise as Bahni Turpin is amazing. The jazz music was so enjoyable and worth the listen on its own! Totally enjoyed it.

As good as the two before!
Revisado: 06-14-19
So many books in a series do not hold up to a good story or to character development, but as in the two previous books, the Rosie Result proves itself to be “correct” again! Love these books and have listened and will be listening to them again in the future, repeatedly.
