Like the character development, and story building

Dislike Central premise of a bio attack causing fuel to explode even in tanks with no fuel air mixture.

Dislike characters doing incredibly dumb things to set up plot items Examples: Alice trusting people she should have left in a puddle. Red not being shot on arrival at the farm.

Dislike technical errors that basic knowledge of the subject matter would prevent. Example: Abrams main gun firing pin rusted in place? That gun is fired electrically.

Supposedly smart tough characters making dumb choices

Over and over, they make predictably stupid choices. That's fine for bit characters but it's hard to like protagonists whose will crumbles at every threat.

When the only smart thing to do Is take out the threat they back down again. I know it makes for more drama but it makes it hard to like the characters.

Good premise
Annoying narration (nasal voice is grating)
Main characters doing mindbogglingly stupid things over and over makes me think they deserve to lose.

Main character is not likable.
Bad guys are never described beyond "leathery".

My first bad review, but it is really hard to listen to this. An EMP that kills off everything permanently.....but not... any of the bad guy's stuff...

Vets hiding and needing cops to hold their hands before fighting back. Cop lady way tougher and more skilled than Marine husband.

Nationwide military conspiracy to enslave everyone, enforced overnight with zero fighting back from those in uniform? And nobody shoots rather than letting themselves be carted off to the camps?

Not sure it's worth the time to see if the author bothers to make up a reason why they did it.


Maybe Germans would obey the rules while being killed but Americans? Lol!

Only thing this is good for is making you think about all the stuff you didn't plan for yet, and even that's a stretch.

OK. listened to the rest of it. Still not believable.

good book, lots of mispronounced words

Good story but the narrator needs to listen to other Spellmonger books to avoid inventing entirely new ways of pronouncing names. It's jarring and frequent.

Accents and male voices seem really forced sometimes. Better to understate such things?

If listening to it without the rest of the Spellmonger universe as a stand alone, it's ok.
