Historia
A girl with a secret. Longbill Beach, 1982. Emily Vaughn gets ready for the prom. For an athlete, who is smart, pretty and well-liked, this night that should be the highlight of her high school career. But Emily has a secret. And by the end of the evening, that secret will be silenced forever. Forty years later, Emily’s murder remains a mystery. Her tight-knit group of friends closed ranks; her respected, wealthy family retreated inwards; the small town moved on from her grisly attack. But all that’s about to change.

Captivating!
Revisado: 01-29-25
There is no smooth navigation of the teenage years. There is nothing cozy in this small town mystery/thriiler. Secrets, lies, rape, murder, drugs. This story has it all.

The AI voice narrator. Terrible .
Revisado: 11-11-24
I hated the artificial narrator. I listened to whole thing because I wanted to see what happened. Then, the ending was disappointing.

Historia
Lucy is a successful businesswoman who loves nothing more than to spend her time competing in fun challenges with friends, colleagues, and even strangers. But she might just have met her match when she encounters Jess, a woman who is not used to losing at anything. Jess is very much like Lucy when it comes to a fondness for competition, only a more extreme version, and as the pair become friends, it's clear that a rivalry is developing between them in the fields of business, love, and beyond. But as the lives of both women become more intertwined, that rivalry becomes more intense.

Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 10-25-24
I started the book, stopped it and then came back to it. Unfortunately, as I neared the end of the book, I got the message that I needed to become an audible member. I knew the book was only available until the end of October, so I must have missed the deadline. Very disappointed that I couldn’t finish, though I thought I had another day.

Alzheimer’s
Revisado: 01-08-24
I think Alzheimer’s is more terrifying than death. The plot and deception, the lure of money and retribution paralleled with losing one’s self and the pain of betrayal and contempt work to weave a great story.

The blindness of the new wife
Revisado: 01-06-24
I enjoyed this book, but the gullibility of the wife was hard to. She was an intelligent, capable woman in an established career, but she missed a lot of cues that could have been for stalled if she had her eyes open.
