Slow start, stellar finish! Strongly recommend
Revisado: 02-27-25
The start of the story goes a little too hard on the beginners guide to Marxism for my tastes, but over all the story was great. It's absolutely worth the heavy handed political debates to enjoy the rest of the book. Maybe the debating wouldn't be too bad for people who dont already know about these different political views tho? either way, HIGHLY recomend

The Lady sends her to the capital of the global empire of Aritsar to compete with other children to be chosen as one of the crown prince’s Council of Eleven. If she’s picked, she’ll be joined with the other council members through the Ray, a bond deeper than blood. That closeness is irresistible to Tarisai. But the Lady has other ideas....

Wonderful

The only complaint if have about this is that some times there are trumpets that start up seeminglyvfeom no where. It kind of kills the mood though the story quickly fixes that problem.

Not the best, but an enjoyable listen
Revisado: 05-27-12
Where does The Sea of Monsters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the mid range. While it is an enjoyable story, there are many things that could have been done much better.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like Annabeth's best for her cool head and sharp tongue. No mater what's going on she always puts her friends first.
Did Jesse Bernstein do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Saddly, no. While he's not the worst I've heard, almost all of the characters sounded like the main one with a bit of flourish. It's not just the tone of his voice, its the way they all talk too.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Between a monster infested rock and a whirlpool.

Briar and Rosethorn are in ancient Chammur, where Briar gets involved in a war between street gangs at the same time that he ends up trying to train a young stone mage he has discovered. Intrigue, adventure, humor, nastiness, all set against a fascinating culture, this is classic Tamora Pierce.

The Stone mage
Revisado: 05-07-12
What did you love best about Street Magic?
I liked seeing Briar mature in his second book, and I really liked Evvy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Street Magic?
The final confrontation always sticks in my mind, though when I think of this book tend to first remember Evvy's reaction to magic.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't have one.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Probably something cheesy like "Time to rock" but that's because i'm bad at making tag lines...

Phil does it again!
Revisado: 05-07-12
Would you listen to Dream Man again? Why?
Maybe. The story was ok, though I've got other books i like more.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story was a bit predictable. I would have made it a bit less obvious.
What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?
Phil's work is always good; his voice portrays emotion well, and each character gets well defined.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Sadly, no. There were alot of points were I think other people would have though.

Pierce's best book yet!!
Revisado: 04-28-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Mastiff to be better than the print version?
I love reading a book very much, so this question is tricky. The audio book allows me to work while I listen, and Susan Denaker brings a bit of life that I don't get from just reading, but I like to imagine the book in my head too. I can't not chose which is better.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Beka Cooper most, but other than her I really enjoy reading about Farmer. I can't go into detail without giving some stuff away. You'll just have to read it.
What does Susan Denaker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
When I listen to her narration I some times feel like Beka is standing next to me, telling me her story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Definitely. Mrs. Pierce's books tend to make me react though the Beka Cooper books have done so more than any others. I won't give anything away but I cried like a baby because of this book.

Simply wonderful
Revisado: 04-28-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, and have on several occasions, though I give them the whole series to read rather than start them on book 3.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the attention to detail, especially about the Bashir's culture.
Which character – as performed by Trini Alvarado – was your favorite?
Obviously I liked how she performed the main character Alanna best.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It's well worth it and in doing so I've picked up details i had not before.
