Historia
Self-made billionaire Sam Zell consistently sees what others don't. From finding a market for overpriced Playboy magazines among his junior high classmates, to buying real estate on the cheap after a market crash, to investing in often unglamorous industries with long-term value, Zell acts boldly on supply and demand trends to grab the first-mover advantage. And he can find opportunity virtually anywhere - from an arcane piece of legislation to a desert meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Historia
David Stockman was the architect of the Reagan Revolution that was meant to restore sound money principles to the U.S. government. It failed, derailed by politics, special interests, welfare, and warfare. Stockman describes how the working of free markets and democracy has long been under threat in America and provides a surprising, nonpartisan catalog of the corrupters and defenders. His analysis shows how both liberal and neoconservative interference in markets has proved damaging and often dangerous.

Narrator tough to listen to.
Revisado: 01-18-19
I really struggled to listen to this book due to the narrator emphasizing nearly every word. It kills the flow and took my mind off the story due to focusing every time he emphasizes a word, which is nearly once or twice per sentence. Unfortunately it's hard to be objective with the book when that made it super hard to listen in the first place. I would highly suggest listening to a passage or two before buying the audiobook. It might make more sense for you to buy the hard copy if you struggle to listen to the narrator as I did.

what is with the music during the reading? Very distracting and annoying. Otherwise it might receive five stars. But this was absolutely annoying.

Historia
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

Solid book - unique material
Revisado: 09-20-18
This was a pretty good book. the narrator was a little dull but it was interesting to know that expertise is more important than passion when it comes to loving your work. I also enjoyed the real life suggestions on how to go about becoming better in your field of work. Some examples a little long winded but overall I 5hink the book is worth a listen or read.

Worth listening to over and over
Revisado: 08-27-18
I've now listened to this audiobook 3 times and tend to fall back to it when I need a pick me up. It's unbelievably insightful and well read by Gary Vee himself. Incredible breakdown of real world examples and great theory on how to improve online marketing. Good for anyone from a flower shop owner to a wannabe influencer. Great tips and great candor on how to succeed in biz. Highly recommended.

Historia
Will becoming a millionaire really set you free? Americans continue to work longer and harder to pursue freedom based on the belief that more money and success will lead to a better life, yet most feel less free than ever. While the typical American trades the vast majority of their time and energy with the hope that someday in the future they will be free, they tragically fail to realize that their intense pursuit of financial success is the very thing robbing them of the freedom they desire. So where do we find freedom?

Depressing
Revisado: 08-27-18
I wonder if I was in the wrong state of mind but this book made me very depressed and worried that what I was doing in life met the standard of the author. It felt very judging. I was looking for more of an uplifting, this is how you make your life rich, type of book. In the end, I just felt like I could never achieve what the author considers enlightenment and therefore would be considered a failure. I guess I just didn't care for how the theory was broken down. Not for me. I wouldn't say I have a fragile ego either. I just ft lielke the story was told a s a guilt trip rather than a personal finance self-help book.

Great book. Gave a lot of real-world principles that can easily be put to use in other parts of life. Just a great book demonstrating small steps eventually equal large breakthroughs. Great book for those who just can't seem to get started. How do you eat an elephant? One small bite at a time.

Boring Narrator
Revisado: 05-21-18
This book was made nearly impossible to finish due to a very boring narrator. It felt like someone was reading a physics text book to me. Very sterile and dry. It rendered the book unlistenable to me. I had to give up a little over halfway through. It just felt like a waste of my time to keep going.
The book itself was pretty sedate too. Not a lot of tools to think big. Mostly just examples of people thinking small and how that's bad.
Not a lot to offer here. Not very beneficial to me. Get Grant Cardone's book, "10X", if you want to be inspired and educated.

Historia
Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, home to only a handful of people, is a harsh and lonely place. So when James Campbell's cousin Heimo Korth asked him to spend a summer building a cabin in the rugged Interior, Campbell hesitated about inviting his 15-year-old daughter, Aidan, to join him. Would she be able to withstand clouds of mosquitoes, the threat of grizzlies, bathing in an ice-cold river, and hours of grueling labor peeling and hauling logs? But once there, Aidan embraced the wild.

Nice performance with a repetitive story
Revisado: 03-15-18
Overall the performance was good and the story was good, but it was a bit redundant. Basically dad and daughter go to Alaska multiple times and each time seems relatively similar. The book was worth the time but it was just average in my opinion.

Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their successes over and over? People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why.

Ho-Hum....
Revisado: 02-09-18
I would have to say I was just mildly enamored by this book. I feel like there wasn't a lot of practical exercises on how to find the why. Maybe I missed the point on most of the book but I got the impression that I should "just find your customer's 'why'" or "just find your 'why'". I think that's the difficult part that I was hoping to get a little more direction with.
