Excellent

Just the right pace. I wanted the ending to be different though. Lucas and Virgil were perfectly voiced. The ending left something to be desired though

Thor the dog
Revisado: 06-17-24
I thought the storyline was good but predictable. I knew what was going to happen by the end of the first chapter. I did enjoy how they incorporated Thor into the plot. He was the most interesting part of the book.

But he has a troubled past. When Clete leaves his car at the local car wash, only to return to find it ransacked by a group of thugs tied to the drug trade from Mexican cartels to Louisiana, it feels personal—his grandniece died of a fentanyl overdose, and his fists curl when he thinks of the dealers who sold it.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 01-11-24
This is my favorite book in the series. The story was original and timely, though sad at times with all the deaths. I was frustrated with the narrator’s mispronunciation of certain words, like “disorientated” instead of “disoriented.” This is a must-read and I can’t wait for the next book, as there was a major cliffhanger at the end of Running Grave

Highly recommend! I literally could not stop listening. In my head, when the narrator did Hannah’s voice, I could hear Al Pacino! The inflection was spot on! A must listen!

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

Trigger warning
Revisado: 07-27-21
The storyline was riveting, the narrator was very good as always. But the novel was overly graphic in many parts. Too graphic sometimes. Also, it felt like this was a “kitchen sink” book, where too many issues are addressed: substance abuse, domestic violence, rape, sexual abuse, etc. it’s definitely a trigger warning for victims of these things.

Just okay
Revisado: 04-12-21
I’m more a fan of Andy carpenter’s novels than these K-Team. For this new installment, the story was convoluted from beginning to end. Too many characters to remember all the names except for the main players. Who did what was very confusing. It feels like the story was rushed to a conclusion that was poorly conceived. The biggest issue I have occurs in both series. It has to do with Marcus. I’m noticing that more and more, he is reduced to a caricature or false stereotype of African-American people. This is highly offensive to me as a black woman. The writer assigns “grunts” and unintelligible words to Marcus’s character while the other white characters are lawyers, and police, with full, clear dialogues. I hope to convey this to the author directly.

Revisado: 12-22-19
The narrator’s lisp was so prominent that it was maddeningly distracting from the story. I cringed throughout the entire book. Decent storyline.
