Historia
A Tale of Two Cities is one of Charles Dickens's most exciting novels. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, it tells the story of a family threatened by the terrible events of the past. Doctor Manette was wrongly imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years without trial by the aristocratic authorities.

Last read in 1969... Excellent Listen!
Revisado: 02-01-23
I last read this book for an English assignment and had my daughters read it for summer reading in the late 80's. Listening to it again gave me a much deeper appreciation for the story than I had in the past. A book that is easy to listen to with this narrator, and an author that brings the French Revolution to life...

Early in 1968, a nuclear-armed Soviet submarine sank in the waters off Hawaii, hundreds of miles closer to American shores than it should have been. Compelling evidence strongly suggests that the sub sank while attempting to fire a nuclear missile.

Remarkable Research on K-129
Revisado: 01-26-23
This is a book, where once you start listening, there is no pause in the story. The research in bringing this to the final publication of the book... astounding. You won't regret this purchase!

Historia
On June 15, 1942, as thousands of vacationers lounged in the sun on Virginia Beach, a massive fireball erupted from a convoy of oil tankers steaming into Chesapeake Bay. By the next day, three ships lay at the bottom of the channel, victims of Lieutenant-Commander Horst Degen and his crew on the German submarine U-701. In The Burning Shore, acclaimed military reporter Ed Offley presents a thrilling account of Degen's rampage along the American coast and of US Lieutenant Harry J. Kane's quest to bring him down.

I can't imagine how, growing up on the East Coast in the 60's and 70's, I was unaware, until now, of the demolition that took place off our coast, in addition to the mining of our harbours... absolutely a fantastic listen and historical lesson I should have learned decades ago.

Historia
One Navy admiral called it "one of the greatest unsolved sea mysteries of our era". To this day, the U.S. Navy officially describes it an inexplicable accident. For decades, the real story of the disaster has eluded journalists, historians, and the family members of the lost crew. But a small handful of Navy and government officials knew the truth from the very beginning: the sinking of the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Scorpion and its crew of 99 men, on May 22, 1968, was an act of war.

I absolutely loved this historical story on the Scorpion. Must read for anyone curious or interested in the Cold War, the Navy, the daring missions of our submariners...

Revisado: 01-13-23
This author is exceptional; the narrator did the book justice, great choice, great storyteller. I couldn't take a break from this book, there was nowhere to pause it! Once finished, I did a bit of research. Incredible fortitude Eliza showed for the time she lived.

Sappy
Revisado: 09-17-22
Complete struggle to finish this book. The narrator sounds like she would be better off reading a Danielle Steele novel. Sappy. The story line... You're far better off listening to books authored by Sidney Sheldon.

Fantastic book, great story!!!
Revisado: 09-14-20
I did enjoy this book tremendously. The voice that was an absolute struggle to get through each time she came up: Grace... very irritating, singsong, squawking voice. The performance otherwise was great. I will listen to it again, the story is a great story, definitely worth listening to.

This does not have the tone of a John Grisham authorship. The reader was sappy, when it came to Myra, screeching is the only description I can think of....
