Historia
Hugh has finally succeeded in opening his own salon, but the glow of his success is overshadowed by not having anyone to celebrate it with. When brawny, six-foot-three Brendan appears on his doorstep with a bouquet of exquisite flowers, Hugh is tempted to break his no-dating-clients rule. Their friendship blooms fast but so does Hugh’s suspicion of Brendan being straight.

Wow, Brendan and Hugh are some h0rny guys! This is a cute story that involves a florist and a hair stylist. I really liked how both of their professions brought them together. This is short, but it’s sweet and very enjoyable. Don’t miss the bonus scene! The narration was also well done and contributed to the story.

When I said I wanted to do it on my own, I didn’t think it’d be so hard. Barely managing to get by wouldn’t be so bad except for the gripping loneliness. I like to flirt, and at times it comes across as desperate, but maybe I am. After flirting with my boss’s brother, I didn’t think it would turn into what it did. After all, isn’t Aaron straight?

Fun, cute story

This book has some favorites: forbidden love (boss/employee), only one bed, fake dating, age gap and queer awakening. I really enjoyed all of the characters (except for a couple obvious ones), the story was realistic and adorable, and it ends very happily. Narration was so well done, too.

Best friends to lovers
Revisado: 04-23-25
This is one of my favorite tropes. In the first part of the book, I really enjoyed the relationship between Brandon and Andrew. However, there is a turning point, and I did not care for Brandon for most of the rest of the book. He was so frustrating! That is not a slight against the book. In fact, it’s a sign of a good book that it can make you feel strongly. It’s just a reality that sometimes people make stupid decisions and hurt others. We get to know the extended friend group a bit more in this book, and I very much enjoyed that. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book. I have my hunches about things…

Four years ago, we said goodbye. I’d always intended to come back for you, but life got in the way. All I have are cowardly excuses of being in school, fear of coming out, and thinking that too much time had passed. But fate? It’s a funny thing, because I’m now forced to spend the summer with you, working together. It’s my chance to make things right, but I know I have to prove myself to you. To show you I’m not afraid anymore. That I still burn hot and heavy for you. Can we work past our differences and try again?

Great second chance story
Revisado: 04-22-25
The narration for this was very well done. This is a great second chance story. I appreciated that Chase didn’t forgive Nathan quickly or easily. It gave Nathan a chance to really reflect and grow. They are wonderful together and thankfully are able to find their way back to each other.

Good very short story
Revisado: 04-17-25
I enjoy this author’s work, and this was no exception. Due to the extreme short length, I didn’t get very invested. However, I would say it was enjoyable. A great time filler if you don’t want to commit to something longer. Narration was well done.

Another fantastic Alpha’s Rejects audiobook
Revisado: 04-16-25
Blaze and Ajax are precious!!! Both guys have been through some serious things in their lives. Additionally, Blaze is a little bit of a brat and did something that made Ajax hate him. It starts as a true enemies to lovers. However, Blaze realizes that only Ajax can meet his needs in a particular area, and starts to seek him out. Ajax realizes there is more going on than he realizes, and seeks to meet Blaze’s needs. Feelings develop. Then, Ajax begins to struggle with his mental health. Blaze realizes that it’s his turn to be the supportive and helpful one. Together, they grow and learn a lot. They are absolutely wonderful characters!
This was my second time reading this book, although the first as an audiobook. I definitely caught more this time through, especially related to the other characters, and appreciated it even more. As for the audio, Harley Chase does a phenomenal job as always. His inflections, pacing, and voices are so well done. If he narrates it, I will listen!

Historia
After my infamous half-a-night stand with the mysterious Rayne, I moved on with my life. Success as a lawyer demands long hours and giving a hundred and ten percent to the job. I do carve out enough time to hang out with friends some weekends, but it's depressing to watch them pairing up while I'm relentlessly single. Then one morning, the man I can't forget shows up bruised and bedraggled at my office door.

Great story
Revisado: 04-14-25
Book 4.5/5
I’ve read many of this author’s books, and I love how in every one we get to see characters from previous books. It makes me want to go back and read the ones I’ve missed.
I enjoyed this book a lot. Everett and Rayne are both likable characters, although it does take a little ‘getting to know you’ for each of them. Despite the plot, the book is overall pretty low angst, which I appreciate. I adored the storyline with Champ. I was invested throughout and it ended satisfactorily.
Overall, the narration was good. However, there were many spots where I struggled with it. The narrator does not use a significantly different voice for the two main characters, and so there are times where it got confusing about who was speaking. Additionally, differentiating between spoken dialogue and inner monologue was almost impossible at points.

Extended Prologue
Revisado: 04-08-25
This is a single chapter, from Everett’s POV, of his one night stand with Rayne. It’s obvious something is up with Rayne, possibly something really sad/bad, and I’m eager to read Rayne’s Return. Michael Dean does a great job narrating. I’ve read most of Gabbi Grey’s Mission City books and have enjoyed them all. This was short but definitely got me excited for the full book.

I've been in love with Barrett since we met in college. Ten plus years and nothing has changed. No man would ever measure up to him, so why would I waste my time? They'd never be Barrett. I'll never be the one for him, so I work as the in-house designer at Barrett's firm and take what I can get. He might be a Daddy, but he's not interested in my kind of little.

Zachary Zaba did a great job narrating. I liked the differences between the characters’ voices. I don’t think I’ve disliked anything Kerry Kilpatrick has written; she’s amazing! I enjoyed seeing characters from past books and references to another series. The found family they have all built is wonderful. This was a great best friends to lovers story, complete with some hurt/comfort and building self-confidence. The real scene stealer is Elizabeth!!!

Interesting and unpredictable
Revisado: 03-19-25
I read this, and then a couple weeks later I listened to the audiobook. Both are absolutely amazing. I caught so much more the second time through. The world building is phenomenal, and the plot has a LOT going on. In a really good, kept me interested and invested, kind of way. Airón is a fascinating character. What must it be like to know your life’s purpose from birth, and it is to end the life of another - knowing you’ll likely die in the process? The story is fully from Airón’s POV, which makes sense or else things would be spoilery. By the end, it seemed like we were just starting to get an idea of what Tallu is like. Lots of twists and turns, and you never know who to trust! Terror is one of my favorite characters.
