The book will definitely hold your interest. Though the female is super annoying at times. There’s a strong female alpha and then there’s just being a witch with a B. She’s a B. It’s really aggravating.

All in all the biggest issue I have with the narration is the obvious lack of research that was done. I mean i’ve been reading fantasy type books for a long time so it bugs me when simple words are said incorrectly, and repeatedly.
Sidhe - “She”…..not “said”.
Hecate - Heck-ah-tay…. Not “hay-caught”

Spoilers - kinda

It was interesting for the first 80%…not like WOW interesting but enough that I kept at it.
Then…her love interest in book betrays her (or so she thinks) and she’s all eff this I’m out. Even though she LITERALLY just realized she loved him and was on her way to get married.
She didn’t even ask questions, just jumped to conclusions and peace’s out!
And then, there was not heartbreaking for this girl. She got home and went back to her normal life. No tears, no lamenting, nothing.
I’m sorry but, you’re in love with this guy, on your way to get married and what, 30mins later it’s like “who dat??” Yeah I’m good. Won’t be continuing.
The narrator was good though which is the only reason I bought the Audible after sampling her voice. So props to her 👏🏽👏🏽

I love this book and was excited to listen to the audiobook because I love Christian Fox’s voice 😍
However, the female narrator wasn’t so good at all.
We’ll see what happens next book, I noticed there’s a change with the narrators.

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this book… I guess first let’s start with the female narrator. The FMC of this book is supposed to be 18, and the narrator sounds like a 40-year-old woman. It’s super offputting and really takes you away from Howell an 18-year-old would speak. The guy narrator actually wasn’t bad which is the only reason I gave it to instead of one.

Now for the story. This girl was a b**ch. and I don’t need like a bad ass boss b**ch. Just a full on B. Halfway through the book I was waiting for the guys to finally put her in her place because she was annoying the shit out of me with her holier than thou attitude about everything. And it never got better.

And then the ending… I don’t want to give out the big spoiler but let’s just say I was not expecting that act to actually happen. I thought for sure the boys would get there before the horrific thing happened but nope there it is described in detail. Like wow. For real? I mean, I’m all for a good non/dub consent play... But this wasn't that. It was too far.
because of the narrators and then that awful ending I literally have no desire to read not only the rest of the saga but anything from this author.

3.5…which is weird for a Mariana book

OK, I know this woman, I love this woman, she is an amazing author! Yes she is the queen of slow burn but you never even notice the missing frequent sexual scenes you have in a typical romance novel.
That being said….oomph, this book was a hard one for me. One of the things I love most about her books is that there is so much of the story going on that is exciting and exhilarating and there is chemistry angst between the characters which makes you bite your lip a time or two lol. But this book…I mean it was sweet and I don’t regret buying it at all but…

OK my issues: slow start. And I’m talking sloooow. Slow character building slow plot building just slow.
Next, The main characters didn’t really have any chemistry for a long time! And then it was weird because you got kind of a hint from it finally from the main guy character and then all of a sudden bam! He’s into her and touching her and teasing her…and it’s like uhhh where was the build up for that?! My last three books from this author I’ve barely been able to put down and stop listening/ reading…. This one took me daaaays to finish.

General warning: do NOT let this be your first Mariana Zapata book.
Should you read it? Yes.

Okay, when they say that this Amat author is the queen of the slow burn….they mean it!!😍😍
I didn’t think I could get into a slow burn. I’m not a wham bam thank you ma’am kinda girl either but I like my steamy chemistry in my books.
And when I say this book is a slow burn, it is a slllloooooowwwww burn lol. But guess what? She is such a fantastic author you really don’t miss it! The story is so well developed and the characters have full on personalities because there’s time to give them a whole person lol, if that makes sense. I love the humor too, seriously funny. The chemistry is there and watching is slowly build while they grew was just so amazing.
And yes, the steam at the end is some damn good steam too 😍🥵💕
I’m off to find another book of hers lol. Oh and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing Aiden and Van to life! Spot on with Vanessa…her male voice was okay but not bad enough to be less than 4 stars ⭐️

I was in love with the first two books…but this one kinda fell short. There was limited about of actual time with her and the boys. And it was written to where our MC was a scared little girl who tried to be tough when she’s outside her house.
Meh 🤷🏽‍♀️ but you gotta finish the series right? Lol

For the love of the gods…do NOT purchase the audiobook 😖. The guy who does Shadow’s voice sounds like he’s a 50yr old British man. The girl narrator was really good, however they both need to brush up on their pronunciation of folklore terms.

All that being said. I absolutely loved this book! 5 stars for the Kindle version 😍😍
I’m currently reading book two and it’s ahhhmazing

Okay, I actually really enjoyed the story. I thought the whole coming of age layout was great! I really got into the main characters too. However what a frustrating let down the ending was. You go through this book with all the ups and downs and the angst and passion….and then you don’t even get a glimpse into their HEA. It’s just her on a doorstep…uh…really?!?

It’s like a teeny bopper story. I’m an hour or so in and she’s a scared little girl, and he’s drawn to her. No mention of vampires or a blood lust…thank GOD it’s in the plus catalog and I didn’t spend a credit.
Narrator wasn’t bad at all but definitely didn’t sound like a small insecure traumatized 18yr old or however old she’s supposed to be.
