Historia
In 2084, Planet Earth was utterly destroyed by a rogue comet and around 25,000 surviving humans were transported to Capitol Base on Mars. These humans included Ewan and Jill Sinclair. Their son Jack Crossan Sinclair is the first Martian child born on Mars and graduates as a geologist. He leads a project to conduct geological surveys to find extractable mineral resources close to Olympus Mons. However, a powerful and secret pseudo-religious organisation back at Capitol Base makes it their mission to stop Jack, at all costs.

Good story diminished
Revisado: 04-21-25
This is a solid thriller absolutely diminished by the AI narration. Emotion is still beyond the technology. This prevented the work from truly coming alive.
A few too many fortuitous events even for science fiction, but for the price and time investment, there are worse options.

Historia
Ambassador Mahit Dzmare arrives in the center of the multi-system Teixcalaanli Empire only to discover that her predecessor, the previous ambassador from their small but fiercely independent mining station, has died. But no one will admit that his death wasn't an accident - or that Mahit might be next to die, during a time of political instability in the highest echelons of the imperial court. Now, Mahit must discover who is behind the murder, rescue herself, and save her station from Teixcalaan's unceasing expansion.

What is the definition of you…
Revisado: 06-30-24
A political thriller in the guise of a space opera. Just enough science to carry the fiction and a storyline as satisfying as the world and characters living it!
The book is a study in self determination, from the technology driven micro to the macro of the empire’s reach. That study is the journey and that journey is absolutely satisfying!

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

A great ride!!!
Revisado: 04-11-24
The world building and character development in this book was amazing on every level! The depth of the multiple storylines was equally as it was impressive.
The author simultaneously told an epic story of conquest, family dynamics, intrigue, murder, and self discovery.
Easily the best book I’ve read in months

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

A fun and challenging read!
Revisado: 10-02-22
SciFi writers come in two varieties: Science people and Fiction people! I loved this science-forward story of humanity that has evolved technologically yet has been frozen in ember as a species!
A humanity that has self segregated throughout the cosmos, harboring centuries old racist prejudices, blinding them to a now, imminent threat!
The multiple story lines, the bits of humor, the twists and turns all make this story a great listen. I personally love Dalzelle’s use of time and pace to keep the story moving and the tension high.
I cannot wait to get into the next two books!

Okay, now you owe me...
Revisado: 11-12-20
This Audible Original took me back to my high school days, rummaging in the comic book stores and finding a Pristine Volume 1 Issue 1 of a great comic only to find out the publisher didn’t know what they had and canceled the title!!!
So now, Audible, you owe me!
With Baron Steele you’ve introduced a lovable anti-hero and a cast of characters in a post Marvel/DC world! The writing was crisp and the story was filled with depth and nuance. Hell, you even packed in a deus ex machina and a couple of plot twists in a solid 47 minutes!
If you don’t realize the gem you have on your hands, let me help you out: Baron Steele js a fantastic read for anyone who loves good storytelling and a good cup of coffee!
Issue #2 better be in production... you owe me!!!

Even Better the Second Time!!!
Revisado: 07-28-19
Writing a review of this story without giving anything away is like trying to describe lightning without using its color, shape or impact!
I will say that at 5 hours in, when you realize the story is ONLY HALF WAY DONE that the point you let go and really begin enjoying the ride! So many twists, so much heartache, so much joy!!!
And once you finish, you HAVE TO press play and really appreciate how well this is put together!!!

Historia
Ferryman Charlie Dawson saves dead people - somebody has to convince them to move on to the afterlife, after all. Having never failed a single assignment, he's acquired a reputation for success that's as legendary as it is unwanted. It turns out that serving as a Ferryman is causing Charlie to slowly lose his mind. Deemed too valuable by the Ferryman Institute to be let go and too stubborn to just give up in his own right, Charlie's pretty much abandoned all hope of escaping his grim existence. Or he had, anyway, until he saved Alice Spiegel.

With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Just not my kind of story
Revisado: 03-02-15
I was familiar with Alan Cumming from "Caberet" and "The Good Wife", and it seemed like this was going to be an interesting listen.
The synopsis should've read that it is an in-depth study of his relationship with his father and how much one man can cry in a three week period.
I came away with the feeling that Mr. Cummings an amazingly talented individual with a very difficult background. He is very delicate flower and without all the people around him he would not be half the person that he is today.
