Historia
When Glory Bishop is offered a new life by a seemingly altruistic Chicago socialite, there may be more than good intentions at play. Against the advice of trusted friends and family, Glory chooses the protection of Malcolm Porter, her adoring, much older bad-boy-turned-minister fiancé. Thrust into a gilded world of wealth, society, and privilege, Glory struggles to overcome the guilt of loving her new life. The whirlwind of 1980s designer clothing, penthouse views, and first-class travel is a far cry from her former existence.

The end is the best part
Revisado: 03-22-25
I truly struggled with this narrator! Glory sounded like an infant!! very annoying! The mother and husband should have been locked up! It was absolutely too much filler and dragged!! What could have been a really interesting story turned difficult to listen too , from the violence to the stupidity of the mother, husband, and main protagonist!

Story line was interesting
Revisado: 03-19-25
But the voice narration of main protagonist is too childish and annoying!! Story dragged quite often and behavior of mother kind of unbelievable for time period. Original narration in Msry Not Broken sshould have been carried over, especially "Ruthie". Story with Mary and child too fanatical to be believable

I didn't care for AI narration. Stories are more realistic sounding with human narrator voice intonation. Also aunt was a bit troubling as character.

I can't wait for the next book in this new series! Author did a great job, kept story interesting and well paced. Only advice, since I'm a woman over 50....we aren't that old acting or looking. Yes we are often grandma's..but we aren't usually like they use to look and act.

Historia
Former ADA turned defense lawyer Lainey Abbott is beginning to worry. It looks like the rest of her professional life will be spent representing dope boys in stop-and-frisk cases, just to help keep the lights on at her and Greg Knight’s law practice. Then a star football player from an elite college shows up at their door. A young, beautiful classmate, with whom he had an erratic three-month fling, was just found dead, and right away he’s in the NYPD’s crosshairs. Could be a fairly straightforward case to defend. Or maybe not. He's Black, and the missing girl is white.
