Historia
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Life as it is most rewardingly lived.
Revisado: 04-14-24
This book has many ways of sharing, not just another culture or way of living, but also a pathway to a sustainable world philosophy to counter climate change and enhance what it means to be human. Without being preachy there are many valid ideas for changes humanity could adopt that could allow our lives and the lives of our posterity to be lived richly without loss to ourselves, our planet and all those who share their world with us.
Highly recommended to all who are living with an open mind and a desire to live their very best lives.

Historia
America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

Touching story, excellent narration
Revisado: 01-03-24
This is a story of struggle, pain, love and endurance in a post apocalypse world. The story is kept personal by focusing on the two main characters, their relationship and journey. Many things are left unsaid, they speak for themselves. The important stuff is the unbreakable relationship, trust and love between father and son throughout all the horrors of the situation. Well done. Well narrated.

Historia
The world named Mount Lookitthat was never meant for humans - it was shrouded in lethal mists. Life existed only on one plateau, unreachable except from space. But the disastrous decision to colonize the planet could not be reversed. So the settlers survived somehow - under a ruthless dictatorship. Mount Lookitthat was rebellion-proof. Then fate dealt the colonists a wild card named Matthew Keller, who had a talent that neither he nor anybody else knew about. At last the colonists had a glimmer of hope!

Historia
For 40 years, Colony 3245.12 has been Ofelia’s home. On this planet far away in space and time from the world of her youth, she has lived and loved, weathered the death of her husband, raised her one surviving child, lovingly tended her garden, and grown placidly old. And it is here that she fully expects to finish out her days - until the shifting corporate fortunes of the Sims Bancorp Company dictates that Colony 3245.12 is to be disbanded, its residents shipped off, deep in cryo-sleep, to somewhere new and strange and not of their choosing.

Historia
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Not my thing
Revisado: 07-23-23
I have enjoyed other books by this author but this one is really not appealing to me. It’s depressing and the copious descriptions all paint a dreary world and people with no joy or hope. I couldn’t finish it.

Great series. Books 1-6
Revisado: 07-13-23
I loved the series through book 6 which I binged through. I haven’t read book 7 and not sure if I will. The reviews aren’t inspiring and after 6 books I need a break but up to now the series is great with an absolutely wonderful alternate history line.

Circe well worth the read/listen
Revisado: 05-31-23
Having received this book as a present I must admit it was not a book I might have chosen. I was lucky. The book storyline and narration were excellent. The humanization of the primary characters, the callousness of the gods, all come together to make a great story. The story weaves together names we have all heard of throughout our lives giving them relationships to each other. Circe accepts and navigates through her existence and develops into a caring, relatable and enduring force.

A long read with excellent choice of narrator
Revisado: 02-19-23
If you enjoy vivid, engaging, suspenseful, classic literature narrated by a powerfully expressive and inventive narrator you will be well satisfied by this rendition of The Count of Monte Cristo. This book is a large investment of time well spent. The plot ranged from the joy of youth and love, to dark and sinister deeds with surprising twists and turns.
I was gratified to put the time into the book before watching the movie. The movie, while entertaining, barely followed the book but non-the-less was acceptable. This book is for classic literature fans. Well worth the time.

Come with us to an Enchanted Place, a forest where Winnie-the-Pooh lived with Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and Little Roo. The stories are about Christopher Robin and these good companions having wonderful times getting in and out of trouble. It is all very exciting and, really, quite thrilling no matter how young or old you may be. It is painful to try and imagine what the world would be like without them.
